That’s the price of NATO democracy. If we were on the Gold standard America would be bankrupt decades ago.
Or 1510$ every minute since the birth of the Christ up until today.
Not that much… Spain pays 100 million Euros A DAY in interest from the national debt. Just interests, not capital repayment. The American economy is an order of magnitude larger than Spain’s. And military expenditures contribute to other industries, and should forward the national interest…
What’s worse is that the spending is not nearly enough; the US still has rampant unemployment and underemployment!

I know this first hand: I have a M.S. in mechanical engineering yet can’t find work outside food service. I also know that if the banksters trick us into WW3, there will magically be plenty of engineering jobs just like when they tricked us into WW2.
“In the long run, a hierarchical society was only possible on a basis of poverty and ignorance… The economy of many countries was allowed to stagnate, land went out of cultivation, capital equipment was not added to, great blocks of the population were prevented from working and kept half alive by State charity. But this, too, entailed military weakness, and since the privations it inflicted were obviously unnecessary, it made opposition inevitable… The problem was how to keep the wheels of industry turning without increasing the real wealth of the world. Goods must be produced, but they need not be distributed. And in practice the only way of achieving this was by continuous warfare.”
~ “1984,” George Orwell
I hope we all know that’s only On The Record. Robbery was made legal long ago. Quote from a chart re the Pentagon’s lost money entitled “Table 2: Department of Defense Unsupported Accounting Entries 1998 – 2002.” According to the GAO Inspector General,
1998 – $1.7 Trillion
1999 – $2.3 Trillion
2000 – $1.1 Trillion
According to a non-identified independent auditor,
2001 – not disclosed due accounting irregularities
2002 – not disclosed due accounting irregularities
Years and mountains of terrabytes later, who among us could hazard a guess about this decade’s robbery? The original info is shown in American University’s history of the CIA Black Budget @

I think Joseph Stiglitz has the right numbers north of $4 Trillion.

These unimaginable sums don’t come out of taxpayers’ pockets. Surely they are borrowed (by the sale of worthless Treasury bonds), or just printed.
F-35: It’s starting to look less like a dominant ‘Bald Eagle’ in the sky and more like an over-stuffed ‘Thanks-Giving’ turkey on the ground in early November.
