Okay, a quick summary first: one of the Russian athletes participating in the Winter Olympics has tested positive for Meldonium. On two different probes. There is no way to explain that away, Alexander Krushelnitsky did have Meldonium in his body. But he was also tested for the same substance just before leaving Russia for Japan (where the athletes were training) and he was clean then. So he must have ingested that during the past two weeks while already abroad. Wait, it gets better! The dosage detected is the equivalent of one dose only. Not only that, but Meldonium increases blood-flow and helps athletes who engage is extremely high intensity sports. Have you ever seen a curling match? Finally, to be effective Meldonium needs to be taken regularly, not just once.
Now let’s sum it up. A Russian athlete takes one singe dose of Meldonium even though he knows with absolute certainty that 1) this will detected (Meldonium is THE drug Russians athletes, including Maria Sharapova, have been accused of taking in the past) 2) that this will not help him at all 3) that no amount of Meldonium could help, even in theory, an athlete competing in curling (in fact, if anything, it could be harmful).
Needless to say, anybody and everybody involved in this issue in Russia understands: this is self-evidently a “provocation”. Even British newspapers realize the enormity of the nonsense the US press is now feeding its zombified readers and listeners (you know, the kind of folks who believe that magic bullets can zigzag or that 2 aircraft can bring about the collapse of 3 buildings).
While, in theory, a jealous team-member or some other person hating either Krushelnitsky or Russia could have given him that one single dose of this drug (any non-clear liquid would do as would any food), this seems to well-timed to be just case of personal revenge or malfeasance.
The sad reality is that Russia stupidly waltzed into a trap and now there will be hell to pay: good luck finding and proving that Krushelnitsky was given that chemical without his knowledge! In my opinion, it was a mistake to go Pyeonchang to begin with, but now the damage is done: Russia is the laughingstock of the AngloZionists who pulled of a very simple (all the Russian athletes drink the bottled drinks given to them the organizers, use the same dining halls, etc.) and very ugly (yes, Russians can be naive, very naive at times) trick. One small bottle liquid in a room and, TADAH!!, there you got it: the evil Russians are cheating and lying again! What else to expect for these semi-Mongolian orcs form Mordor?
When will we ever learn!?
In my many contacts with Russians I notice one recurrent feature: most of them simply do not understand that they are at war and that the war which is being waged against them has absolutely no rules. Whoever put that Meldonium into Krushelnitsky’s room or bottle or snack took a tiny risk and yet that resulted in yet another major PR blow delivered against Russia’s image and the against the morale of the poor Russian athletes who are already competing with an (illegally) reduced team and in terrible conditions (Hats off to whoever came up with that plan: it was nothing short of brilliant, very low risk and very high yield)
Have you heard anything about the conclusion of the expertise on the engine of the SU-25 recently shot down over Syria? I haven’t. How about the investigation of the downing of the MH-17? What about the bombing of the Russian airliner (Metrojet 9268) over Egypt? Again, maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see anything. So what about this drink, or toothpaste, of snack or whatever was used to give Krushelnitsky this one single dose of Meldonium, just enough to be detected – do you expect that we will find out who done it?
I don’t.
Yeah, I know. The Russian hockey team beat the USA 4-0. So what?! Was that really worth going to Pyeonchang?
I really don’t think so. The Olympics are a stupid, useless, corrupt waste of money, a disgusting display of crude nationalistic fervor which has nothing to do with real sports and Russia ought to be the first country to leave them, slamming the door loudly, and organize her own, real, sportive events. In fact, I believe that Russia is big, rich and diverse enough to pull out of all the zombifying and vulgar “entertainment” the West is so good at spreading worldwide (stuff like the Eurovision or mindless TV “talent” shows). Alternatively, we can simply sit, do nothing and wait for the IOC simply expel Russia from the next Olympic games, or even the entire Olympic movement, and then whine and sob about how unfair this all is, how innocent we are all, how much we care for de Coubertin and his Olympic spirit. Is that really the better choice?
Each time Russia participates in such AngloZionist controlled events she ends up getting slapped in the face (remember the last Eurovision?) and walks away in impotent shame. How can the Russians makes fun of the Ukie’s “Ukraine is Europe” when they themselves are constantly trying to play in the very same events, with the very same rules, organized by the very same people who all viscerally hate Russia to begin with?
When will we ever learn!?
The reality is a simple as it is horrible: the AngloZionist elites have declared and are waging total, full-spectrum, war on Russia. Oh no, not a military war (yet?), that’s the kind of war they lost so often that’s they don’t have the stomach for it, but an “everything else but military” kind of war: Russia is the Evil Empire, Mordor, and she must be either completely enslaved or completely destroyed. Have you noticed how recent US movies are, once again, constantly showing evil Russkies (bandits, hackers, terrorists, etc.) again? When all the European comprador elites got together in Munich, what was their unanimous message? “Russia is Evil, Russia Is A Danger! We Will Fight Russia!” It’s WWII, the Crimean War, the Napoleonic invasion or the Northern Crusade all over again (all of the West pulling all of its forces together again), but fought with different means.
And the Russians really seriously believed that they could travel to Korea to enjoy an innocent and peaceful competition in this context?
When will we ever learn!?
There *is* and Evil Empire out there: the AngloZionist Empire. And it wants to crush and subjugate Russia no less than the Nazis, the Masons or the Latins did in the past. Same plan, different methods, that’s all. Just because this time around they are militarily weak does not mean that their political ‘soft’ power is not still immense and that they cannot defeat Russia: they most definitely can unless the Russians finally wake up and start acting like adults who understand that they are, yet again, locked into a struggle for their survival.
When will we ever learn!?
The Saker
if Russia would not have participated it would have been like this “Russia refused to participate because their athletes cannot win without dope”
Remark the caught athlete’s discipline has not use for the dope. So why this guy? One possible answer the person who framed the athlete had to do it and made it absolutely clear.
The girls showed the world what Russia is. They won the hearts of the public and viewers.
There are even worse examples than the Olympics or the Eurovision. Just look at what has become of the Nobel award. This with the Olymics is disgusting enough, but is the lie really so powerful as it seems to be? Do the chicke not always come home to roost?
“You can lie to all people some of the time, to some people all the time, but not to all people all the time”, said Churchill once (quoting someone, but he was informed well enough, I think)
This is a complicated way of saying that “A lie has short legs”. It does not last very long, and already – what is happening with the credibility of the west, really? Who believes the western media still? Significant parts of their own population already do not.
That is the reason the avalaches of propaganda lies can only make sense as a prelude to a war, I think. The perpetrators here are as expert in lying as one can get on this planet, and they must know very well, the expiry dates of even the best of their products are strictly limited. Once a war starts, the lying possibilities get extended no end, of course…
Saker;
I wish I could stop this [secret-state/media]-led rush to war, a war manufactured by a thousand cuts. The will of the people? Yeah sure, the [secret-state/media] propaganda is strong and ubiquitous and any who stand against it are immediately gagged, the consent is wholly manufactured.
Urban liberal elites who were once draft dodgers pine for a US/Russian war and feel free to criticize those who think the enterprise an elitist fantasy. Those of us who have worn the uniform and are highly critical of this fool’s errand are denigrated by these urban draft-dodging elitists sans any shame at their having shirked duty to country in their youth.
I can say this, which I believe to be hopeful, the rural and southern regions of the country are sick of the urban elitist’s neocolonial wars, they were fooled into believing the secret-state/media’s bull$#!t in the lead up to the Iraq invasion and have either suffered personally or know a family who has. Negatively, as you have correctly pointed out, US-wars are now being staffed by brown-skinned proxy forces* because, urban elites, for all their eagerness for US-Russian war conflicts, are unwilling to serve, or to pay full price, so we work with cut-rate mercenaries in their place. I don’t see how such a divided country engaging in a massive enterprise against a determined foe can be successful when arrayed against a united and determined enemy.
All the lessons of Viet Nam have been washed away by the likes of Gen McMaster, who’s revisionist history, based on the shopworn “stabbed in the back” meme, now hold sway inside the DC bubble.
*As Libya proved, it’s okay for “liberals” to be vile racists…so long as it’s outside the US.
In America, its ok for ‘liberals’ to be very racist as long as they correctly pick their targets. Which means its ok to be racist to ‘white’ people and its ok to be sexist towards ‘men’.
I was once told by someone that they could tell I was a racist. They said they could tell that I was a racist because of the color of my skin.
No joke. I’m serious.
I used to be a leftist activist who was out protesting against the wars and the bankers and their plans for globalization. I had lived in Atlanta and had frequently marched with the King movement on civil rights issues. But that was my wake-up call that told me that the content of my character was now meaningless, and that the only thing that matters to modern ‘leftists’ was the color of my skin.
I define that as racism. When the color of someone’s skin is all that matters, then the people who think that way are racist. But of course, like all racists throughout history, they have their own deep and involved arguments about how it is that of course they are not racist.
News today that the ROC (Russia Olympic Cmte) just made what I consider to be a huge mistake.
The ROC just paid USD15 million in extortion money to the criminals at the IOC to be ‘reinstated’.
Just the opposite of what I’d have recommended. If I was in charge, I’d have told the IOC where to go stick it and annnounced that in the future Russia would no longer have anything to do with the Olympics.
Of course, like with any extortion payment to a blackmailer, this runs the risk that they will be forced to pay more and more over the years. The IOC can always come up with another ‘informer’ who claims violations by the Russians. After all, they have millions of dollars with which to buy such informers. And then of course they will again penalize Russians and will probably demand even more money in the future for such reinstatement from what will be by then multiple offenses.
I didn’t disagree with the decision to send Russian athletes to this Olympics on such short notice. But I strongly disagree with the notion of continuing to be involved with a corrupt movement that disqualifies athletes based solely on their citizenship without any real proof against them. And which apparently only investigates certain athletes again based on their citizenship (have they been ‘re-testing’ every athlete at Sochi? No.)
The ROC just paid USD 15 million to be further abused and discriminated against.
https://www.rt.com/sport/419573-russian-doping-scandal-olympics/
Russia actually becomes an enabler when it sends money or funds these organizations.
IOC to ROC….. Suckers!!!!
The Russian media (ie, RT) reported the benefit of the ROC paying and getting reinstated now would be that Russia could march under its own flag at the closing ceremonies.
IOC just announced that Russia is still suspended and can’t display their flag or wear national uniforms at the closing ceremonies.
In other words, the IOC cashed the check and then turned around and laughed in the face of the Russians.
Even better, they use the two, yes a whopping two, doping violations, including busting this curler for Melodonon, as the excuse of why it is Russia is still suspended.
https://www.rt.com/sport/419762-ioc-russia-ban-flag-pyeongchang/
Meanwhile, a German writer is accusing Norway of leading the medal count by what can only be called organized and widespread doping. An incredible number of Norwegian athletes are declared to be asthmatics, and thus have notes from their doctors allowing them to use performance enhancing drugs. The article I read told of the Norwegian team doctors bringing huge amounts of these to the games….thousands and thousands of doses of multiple drugs.
But hey, Russia is the bad guys and the Norwegians are apparently cute in the corrupt eyes of the IOC.
Hmmm, so maybe the answer to ‘when will they learn’ is after they got ripped off for $15 million?
The west are masters at stealing the big bucks.
Saker, I’m brazilian and I have no proud of this. I understand what you say about west and you are correctly.
I love the Russia history and the russian, more than all the west. I undestand what the West is doing the the Russian.
You are the better !
“How can the Russians make fun of the Ukies’ >> Ukraine is Europe >> when they themselves are constantly trying to play in the very same events, with the very same rules, organized by the very same people who all viscerally hate Russia to begin with?”
And the Ukros are correct. I would even go so far as congratulating them for being ahead of the EU in terms of ugliness and vileness. So, yes, the joke is entirely on the Russians. Unrequited love dies hard, and it isn’t awe-inspiring to see it playing out; quite the opposite.
Yup. I hoped Russia would take this as an opportunity to start a new Silk Road Games, outside of the Sorosian realm. Russia is already doing that with just about everything else from banking to currency to culture to religion. The new alternates are quickly gathering up many countries that are tired of being bombed by USA and exterminated by Soros.
When you continue participating in a system that’s EXPLICITLY rigged against you, you can’t complain that the system is rigged against you.
The sign over the door flashes “WE ARE HOLDING THESE GAMES SO WE CAN DESTROY YOU.” Why enter? Start a different game, or just stay home and take a nap.
First, being the national champion of a large nation like Russia is a fine and worthy goal for an athlete. Only the elite can possible aspire to such a high target, and to achieve winning such a difficult championship is a worthy accomplishment to be very, very proud of.
Secondly, in most of these sports, there are already world competitions in which these world class athletes already compete. The FIS Sking World Cup for instance. Of the Diamond League Track and Field competitions. At least so far, these competitions have not gone insane over politics like the Olympics has. And they are not as likely to do so, as they organizers realize that this would tear their competitions apart and because they don’t get very big checks from NBC-Comcast (which is what funds much of the Olympics) https://www.rt.com/business/418322-olympic-games-money-profits/
Thus, it is very, very possible to be a world class competitive athlete without competing in the Olympics. And, as people have stated, its also possible to organize other competitions along the lines of a BRICS Games or something like that. I remember Ted Turner and his Goodwill Games that existed the last time the Corrupt Olympics went all political and started boycotting games and banning nations.
Meldonium was created in LSSR (Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic), ofc currently is sold here in Latvia as well (5 euro per 20 caps/250mg each – without prescription!), it’s in the form of easily soluble (in ANY liquid, like water) powder with sweetish taste; basically, you can just open a cap and pour it into your mouth – will dissolve in mere seconds. From personal experience, it can boost your motivation and lessen tiredness, but the effect must be achieved with cumulative use over a period of time AND it’s sometimes so slim, that one can wonder if it’s a placebo effect or not. I’m still not convinced entirely that it has and effect or not, to be honest and unbiased… So one can see how easily it can be added to ones drink\food, and how minimal or nonexistent the effect of single dose is. (Pls note, that I’ve tested it for over than 2 years, in different circumstances, for different periods, with pauses of different length) Hope this is useful, Saker! ;-)
On the more important issue of “When will we ever learn!?” – it’s coming, the “going there” was an important step to teach people what you, respected one, try to break for Russians that read your articles; it was a move in Putin’s style, no restraining but letting a “child” fall, so that the lesson is learned the hard way, the bruise way, the lesson by humiliation of those, that would not listen. And I would argue that even though it’s painful for those, who are being humiliated there, it was THEIR CHOICE to go. If there were still illusions about how someone who would try to distance him/herself from “Putin politics” is going to be treated, even in the event of (presumably) world greatest sports venue, one can easily note that they’re gonna be used as door mats of AngloZionism for reasons they don’t care or even know about. This is how, I believe, Putin is trying to raise Russian “immunity” to AngloZionist virus, cause we all know – no one is immortal. And since the chances are that the best efforts of Putin to put a “right” successor after him will be derailed and used to destroy not only RF, but his legacy, the only prudent choice is to teach people to be more defense-capable against such manipulations, whatever may come. I do concur that many Russians are still unaware of the Greatest War (as I’d like to call it), and some are even on the other side of the barricades – thanks to their lack of knowledge – but IT IS COMING. More and more people are waking up, and even the support for (if we mention it as example) Olympic movement and, more important, going to Pyeongchang is seriously lacking, to say the least.
So to sum up, don’t panic, comrade! ;-) All of the Russia’s foes were at first reveling in their superiority and success, but then bleed to death while trying to overcome what they considered a mortally wounded beast.
PS – Congrats to everyone who can be congratulated on the Defender of the Fatherland Day!!!
I’ve belabored the point up here. But the East vs. West face-off is not a conventional conflict informed by antithetical human(ist) worldviews. Of course human history has probably always been a good vs evil formulation disguised at times as a materialist dialectical process. It’s just that we are so far along the eschatological unfolding and nearing the climactic encounter, that materialist frames are looking shoddier than ever.
If Russia continually expects proportionate human responses (and I’m not asserting necessarily that it does), it will be endlessly disappointed. The West is spiritually possessed. There is more demonic animus than retaliatory human quid pro quo-ness.
The human gloves are coming off. The principalities are graduating to the fore. Human agency has always been a stalking horse for this elemental struggle anyway. Increasingly man will be ‘borne along’ by these disembodied forces. Call it a quickening or perhaps an unveiling of all that lies behind flesh and blood. Events are happening faster than human cognition can process and render coherent. The velocity is inhuman. Human history, which has always belonged to the Prince of this World, conforms more to his dizzying intellectual prowess and speed than to our. Faith –as opposed to reason and intellect– is man’s sole recourse.
Humanity vs the Implacable Machine.

Spot on! Recently I was arguing the same with a friend telling her that Russia should have never participated in this corrupt Olympics, which unfortunately became a full-blown propaganda machine for the western globalists. Lately I was reading Rogozin’s book “The Hawks of Peace” and there he mentions about the inferiority complex that the Russians have against the west. He mentions Dostoevsky’s remarks about a British noble visiting Russian parliament in the mid 19th century and how he made some Russian ministers to assist him to wear his coat using them as doorman. Dostoevsky, Tolstoy in literature, the Russian five in classical music (Borodin, Korsakov,Mussorgsky among them) were the promoters of Russian patriotism, arguing that Russia has to develop and prosper with Russian Values. This idea is coming back with Euroasia today. Alexander Dugin is promoting the same idea in Russia, while other thinkers in different countries follow the same path. I am not so sure about Putin and what he really is. Dugin calls him a perfect liberal. Until he drops his famous line of calling the western powers “our partners”, I will tend to agree with Dugin. Regards.
I have a different view. For sure, sport as well as culture is being used as an instrument of war. But the theme of the “Peace Olympics” set the tone for the profound desire of the Korean people for peace and reunification. Withdraw from the Olympics? What is the extension of the logic? Withdrawing from the United Nations? This seems to be posturing. One fights on different fronts and also on battlefields not always of one’s choosing.
Millions of people saw a different side to the propaganda and disinformation.
https://tonyseed.wordpress.com/2018/02/15/pyeongchang-peace-olympics-korean-nations-profound-desire-for-peace-and-reunification-sets-tone/
Secondly, in terms of ice hockey, in which Russia defeated the USA 4-0 only to be accused by the US coach of “running up the score,” I wrote:
“Whether the US badly underestimated the Russian team or not, the outcome reveals another factor at play on the ice, a very important factor which cannot be underestimated. The USA and the media did not count on the morale, the dignity, and patriotism of the athlete, the honour of it all. The fact that they are representing a definite people constitutes a force that must be added to the known skill, talent, discipline and effort that each of its hockey players is capable of achieving under normal conditions. This factor also underlies the competitive, all-out performances of other national teams such as Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Germany who are habitually denigrated by the media as “minnows,” “inferior” and “hockey backwaters.”
The culture of the athletes and their response to the match did not mirror the arrogant and chauvinist attitude of superiority. Ilya Kovalchuk, who scored two of the goals and who had chosen to return to the KHL in Russia rather than playing out his illustrious career for the big bucks in the NHL, wryly pointed out to the media, “After the last game in Sochi, I think you guys are still showing the highlights of [T.J.] Oshie scoring those shootouts, right? So hopefully you’re going to change that now.”
The principle that relations in sport be based on the relations of equality of nations, big and small or the principle that every nation is as equally as important as the next nation means nothing to these big nation Anglo-American chauvinists, let alone the principles of friendship between peoples and their athletes and respect for one’s opponents.”
These are principles worthy of being upheld and defended, as many athletes did.
The Hope Solo Olympic Medal for Sore Loser (2): US men’s hockey coach
https://amateursport.wordpress.com/2018/02/20/the-hope-solo-olympic-medal-for-sore-loser-2-us-mens-hockey-coach/
Tony, I like your comment. In principle I refused to watch the Olympics this year. But, yesterday I happened to stumble on the game. The message I got was as follows: The OAR (not Russian) team won the championship for the first time since 1998. Hmm, as I said it before somewhere USA and Canada were planning to sweep the first two medals, maybe Sweden maybe Czechs the third. Needless to say that hockey is the queen of the winter sports. And suddenly Canada loses to Germans, USA to Russian, this gives the media the opportunity to diminish the value of the Germans. The stupid a$$holes do not understand that by doing so they further diminish the value of their own teams. USA coach, the sore loser idiot, refused to shake hand with the Russian Coach. Well, I am not sure, but I think that by not allowing primadonnas actually turned out to be a good thing for these two teams, and I am not saying that NHL’rs are any better, I actually think that by doing so the other players had an opportunity to shine and show that NHL like most other American professionals are actually overpriced and overcommercialized tools of big business.
P.S. I actually noticed that since those two American teams were out, the refereeing was actually fair (decent).
“The stupid a$$holes do not understand that by doing so they further diminish the value of their own teams.” Absolutely: the Globe and Mail was using such insulting phrases as “hockey backwaters.” These are national teams, not NHL teams. I am in general agreement with you too, but think that we have to be more precise. The NHL, a private cartel, dictates the composition of national teams; who can participate, who can not. This is the same dictate exercised by the NBA and MLB. (At the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, many Canadian professionals were prohibited from playing for the Canadian national team, and the Toronto Blue Jays participated in this. So there are many examples.) The second issue is what are their international aims? This is where, in my view, the whole analysis of Mr Saker falls down.
The aim of the NHL is to turn international hockey into a business arm of the most powerful business interests and finance capital concentrated in NHL ownership, marketing and media monopolies – a wing of the Union of North American Monopolies.
The NHL also wants to dictate terms regarding player transfers or human resources with such other countries as Russia, Sweden, Finland, the Czech and Slovak republics, etc. The athletes are the products of the societies in which they have been raised, taught and trained to an elite level in sport, yet have been been increasingly seduced to emigrate to North America at a young age without any return to their communities. The Cubans call this “talent theft.” The same neo-colonial exploitation rules in soccer/football and baseball with their “academies.”
The NHL began formulating their plans before the Sochi Olympics. I wrote about it at that time and I think it holds up:
https://amateursport.wordpress.com/2016/09/19/sochi-2014-the-nhls-blatant-provocation-against-the-olympics/
The NHL tried to blackmail the International Hockey Federation (IHF) which, after compromising, didn’t budge any more. So NHL floated a so-called world cup in Toronto in 2016 – as a test or precedent to taking over Olympic hockey. I think it was a farce — and very much out of the MLB playbook and how it launched the World Baseball Classic in 2005. To lessen the competition and participation, the NHL cobbled together a cosmopolitan “Team Europe” and another Can-Am “Young Guns” squad. Although the sports media tried to hype it in the end, some of the journalists also recognized they were being taken for a ride. Another reader has made a good comment about the positive relations between Canadian and Russian hockey as well, and that hockey has not gone along with the WADA offensive.
I really don’t understand the role of the Players Association in this. They originally were for the Olympics. Ilya Kovalchuk said after the Gold Medal game that “the NHL guys want to play . . . One of the reasons I went back to Russia was that I wanted to play for my country.” He said that the Stanley Cup is the Stanley Cup, but the Olympics is the greater competition. The NHL demanded concessions from the NHLPA in exchange for participation, so it blackmailed them too. The NHL huffed and puffed but did not bring down the house, and in the end refused to release players from their contracts. The sports media took up the refrain of the “NHL less” Olympic competition, as if it was second-rate. Hockey is not only, as you say, the queen of winter sport it is, for these vested interests, the marquee event. This is reflected in the fees for broadcast rights; without the NHL, the bids were substantially lower.
The contradictions between the NHL and the IHF and the US-Canadian Olympic associations and the IOC using the pretext of Russia can be described as being of an inter-imperialist character, rather like that between the US and Germany over energy, NATO financing, European army, etc.
In my view it is a case that what US imperialism cannot control and dominate, it destroys. And this is where the critique of the IOC offensive on the alleged state doping of Russia breaks down, sort of like alternate spin, very defensive. What does Russia have to do with baseball or basketball, cricket or rugby? This spin camouflages the Anglo-American drive, what the Americans euphemistically call “the globalization of sport.”
In recent years a preferred method of the US imperialists for ousting, if not outright destroying those who refuse to come under their dictate, involves the use of manipulated legal, parliamentary and constitutional processes to accomplish their aim. In its offensive against FIFA, the IOC – since the bribery scandals around awarding Utah the Winter Games – and even the Tour de France, it is posturing as the greatest anti-corruption and anti-drug crusader to achieve its aim of putting corrupt pro-US officials in charge, one of whom is Dick Pound, the old fart who toiled for the notorious Spanish fascist Samaranch and whose claim to fame was driving up the broadcast fees paid to the IOC in the 1990s and rescuing the IOC from the Utah scandal. Another is Sebastien Coe.
I also thought the hockey much better. I along with many people I know were especially interested in the Korean unified team. Canada played its best game in the bronze medal game against the Czechs and the Russia-Germany game was a nail-biter, as was the Can-Am women’s final. Yes, the Russian victory was poetic justice. Interesting comment about the refereeing!
The NHL has failed in its primary aim. Looking ahead, the 2022 Winter Olympics in China and the possibility of Calgary hosting the 2026 games – Bach says “we want to come back to a traditional winter sports venue” –
presents a whole new kettle of fish for the NHL and the US and Canada. To eliminate Russia from the China competition as well as a travel ban on Russian spectators would be a coup d’état of Olympian proportions. Will China allow it? This crisis will deepen, as it is a crisis of the imperialist system.
Another point: the NHL owners vented their spleen at the Olympics using as pretext the prospect of injuries to their top stars competing on national teams in the Olympics and jeopardizing their playoff chances. It was a red herring. Apart from Austin Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs, how many other players have been injured during the past two weeks in the NHL?
So, there they were, the Russian hockey team had won the gold, the medels were awarded, and then the angels sang; the entire team and their fans sang the Russian National Anthem drowning out the stupid olympic music……………….shear poetic justice! Bravo, encore, encore.
Two planes didn’t bring down building 7? Dang. Lot’s o’ ‘Muricans believe 911 was a Mossad hit.
Your likely correct and this Athlete and the Russian Athletes in General have been targeted and will be targeted in Future. Its a game 2 can play though and the Soccer World Cup starts in Russia soon. Where will the U.S. be if a bunch of Spectators or Athletes get caught with Coke or some other Drug which carries a sentence of 20 plus yrs. Would anyone be surprised if U.S. fans were caught with Drugs. Nope. It’s acceptable in Western Culture to take Drugs. so if English French or Americans get caught and they are people with a previous everyone will believe they are guilty. Who cares if they aren’t? only their Families and friends will. What’s good for the Goose is good for the Gander.
Well, the ban’s been lifted just days after the Olympics are over. I wonder if it is so they can get more Russian money. I mean, would Russia not have to pay into it if it was not a part of it?
http://abcnews.go.com/International/putin-honors-russian-olympic-medalists-ioc-lifts-doping/story?id=53414693
Even British newspapers realize the enormity of the nonsense the US press is now feeding its zombified readers and listeners …
I believe you are spot on about everything in this article, and I will tell you, for one thing, why it is obvious to me that they went out of their way to publicize this, scream hysterically about cheating Russians, etc. : The thing it, I refuse to watch any of the Olympics, winter or summer for decades now. I have seen maybe 1 minute, cumulative, of very short clips from this event and read a comparable amount of text stories. I feel even that much time spent was a complete waste. And yet, without paying the slightest attention, I saw the Krushelnitsky trumpted instantly everywhere when it happened! And I had the same reaction as you. Doping up for curling? Srsly?
Also you said:
The Olympics are a stupid, useless, corrupt waste of money, a disgusting display of crude nationalistic fervor which has nothing to do with real sports …
Yes, exactly, although you maybe are too kind here. Did I mention that I, too, despise the Olympics?
