This from Zero Hedge:
With diplomacy having failed miserably to resolve the Russian annexation of Crimea, and soon East Ukraine (and with John Kerry in charge of it, was there ever any doubt), the US is moving to the heavy artillery. First, moments ago, the US DOE announced in a shocking announcement that it would proceed with the first draw down and sale of crude from the US strategic petroleum reserve, the first since June 2011, in what it said was a “test sale to check the operational capabilities of system infrastructure”, but is really just a shot across the bow at Putin for whom high commodity prices are orders of magnitude more important than how the Russian stock market performs. And now, as Bloomberg just reported, the US has escalated even further, citing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, who “has claimed that in the case of an escalation of unrest in Crimea, the U.S. Army is ready to back up Ukraine and its allies in Europe with military actions.”
So much for those peaceful hour long phone calls between Obama and Putin.
From Bloomberg:
According to the Web site of the Atlantic Council, Dempsey said that “he’s been talking to his military counterparts in Russia, but he’s also sending a clear message to Ukraine and members of NATO that the U.S. military will respond militarily if necessary.”
“We’re trying to tell [Russia] not to escalate this thing further into Eastern Ukraine, and allow the conditions to be set for some kind of resolution in Crimea. We do have treaty obligations with our NATO allies. And I have assured them that if that treaty obligation is triggered [in Europe], we would respond,” Dempsey said.
According to the General, the incursion of Russian troops into the Crimea creates risks for all the countries of Europe and NATO allies.
“If Russia is allowed to do this, which is to say move into a sovereign country under the guise of protecting ethnic Russians in Ukraine, it exposes Eastern Europe to some significant risk, because there are ethnic enclaves all over Eastern Europe and the Balkans,” Dempsey said.
I have to say that I am appalled by the sight of a Chairman of the Joint Chief seriously implying that NATO has treaty obligations towards a country which is not even member of NATO, seriously implying that Russia is a threat to NATO or seriously suggesting that NATO forces could be used against Russia. Yes, Dempsey did put quite a few “ifs” around this statements, but the general impression is, of course, of a direct military threat to Russia.
How is Russia likely to respond?
There is a Russian popular saying which exactly covers this kind of situation. It goes like this: “Пугать ежа голой задницей” which can roughly be translated as “to scare a hedgehog with a naked butt”.
If anything, Dempsey’s threats will only serve to make the US and NATO look weaker to the Russians. Culturally, Russians have always looked down on threats which they typically see as a sign of weakness. If you are strong – why would you need to make threats? Did you notice that during the first 10 days of the crisis in the Ukraine Putin did not make a single TV appearance? And then, he took action before he decided to speak (sending the Polite Armed Men in Green to Crimea). In the Russian mentality a barking dog is far less dangerous than a quiet one and all that Dempsey will achieve with his latest outburst is to trigger even more contempt for the western elites than before.
The Kremlin already knows that Obama is a clown. Now they have a confirmation that Dempsey is another clown. Who does this leave? Biden? He is a complete buffoon. Kerry? Smart man, but a pathological liar who simply cannot be trusted. Not Susan Rice – she is a warmongering maniac (see her track record on Syria). And EU politicians are, frankly, no better.
So, in my opinion, this is one of the biggest dangers the world faces today: the western leader are not only evil and immoral, they are also hopelessly stupid, incompetent and arrogant. As a result – there is really nobody in the western capitals which Russia can talk to. Having put their full political credibility and weight behind a sad and nauseating gang of neo-Fascist insurgents, the western leaders are now stuck with the consequences of their own actions and not a single one of them has the courage or moral probity to admit that they completely FUBARed the situation.
As I have written recently, the US and NATO have no rational military options in the Ukraine. But a combination of arrogance stupidity can trigger clearly unwinnable wars as was the case in the 2006 Israeli attack on Hezbollah and in the 2008 Georgian attack on Russia (both of which were 100% backed and even directed from the USA).
Is there really nobody who can stop these maniacs?
Frankly, this is as sad as it is frightening.

UPDATE: “S.E.” has just contributed a very interesting comment (thanks!) which I think is important enough to be placed here in-extenso. He wrote:
Dempsey: this is actually from his interview on friday with PBS Newshour, but with a slight twist from Bloomberg that makes it seem like he threatens military intervention in Crimea. On Sic Semper Tyrannis, which might be well known to some of the readers of this blog, the interview was interpreted at a push AGAINST war fever, see http://turcopolier.typepad.com/sic_semper_tyrannis/2014/03/dempsey-pushes-back-against-war-fever-harper.html#more
I will ignore the fact that Dempsey seems to think that its the Russians which are reneging on the February 21st agreement, and point out the real key sentence here:
“Our role, as the military, is to seek ways to influence this without it being escalatory. And, by the way, I do have this open line with my Russian counterpart. So, everything that we have done, I tell him, here’s what were doing. Here’s why were doing it. We disagree fundamentally about your claim of legitimacy, but, as militaries, let’s try to avoid escalating this thing.”
That is *exactly* what I would hope the top US and Russian military commanders to do. So it appears that Bloomberg took Dempsey’s statements at least out of context and that Zero Hedge and myself should have been far more cautious about this. Well, all I can say is “kudos to SE!!” for pointing this out to me. At the very least, this makes me breathe easier :-)
Guys, please make sure to read the post on Sic Semper Tyrannis. I will to find a video link to the full interview (if you have it – please post it in the comments section).

Ukraine turmoil LIVE UPDATES http://rt.com/news/kiev-clashes-rioters-police-571/
“Wednesday, March 12
16:08 GMT:
Crimea’s regional Council of Ministers has received information about possible provocations by the Right Sector ultranationalist group to undermine the upcoming referendum on the region’s future, Crimean Prime Minister Sergey Aksyonov said.
“The Council of Ministers of Crimea received information indicating that self-proclaimed leaders of the Ukraine today held a closed meeting with the Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine,” where they discussed organizing provocations in Crimea, he said.
“We have information that at the meeting the Right Sector was ordered to prepare groups of paramilitaries dressed in the uniform of servicemen of the Russian Federation, to organize armed attacks on military units of the Ukrainian army, located on the territory of Crimea,” Aksyonov said.”
I’m willing to bet Russian intelligence has infiltrated every level of the zionazi bandera quisling regime. The Russians consistently are one step ahead of them. This knowledge, and their inability to really do much about it, is probably part of the reason the American leadership is acting out like adolescents.
вот так
As you say the US regieme are:
“hopelessly stupid, incompetent and arrogant….”
What is so worrying is just how far they will go. Crimea is calm – there are no issues there…EU stays quiet – God help us all…..:(
The message from the Russian nation is loud and clear: Russia will liberate Ukraine from the Nazi junta and NATO occupation. There is NOTHING that the West can do to stop this – apart from Nuclear Armageddon.
The choice is now for the West to make. If only Novorossiya is liberated, then it will join Russia as an integral part of the Russian Federation. If Kiev is liberated, then all of Russophone Ukraine (70%) will join the Eurasian Union. Make the choice now, and the issue will be settled peacefully. Wait another week and the outcome will be forced on you!
NATO can have Galicia and Banderastan. It will have sole responsibility for eventual de-Nazification.
I forgot to add to previous post. Smoke and mirrors with USA – watch Syria.
Russia musn’t get distracted!
Dempsey: this is actually from his interview on friday with PBS Newshour, but with a slight twist from Bloomberg that makes it seem like he threatens military intervention in Crimea. On Sic Semper Tyrannis, which might be well known to some of the readers of this blog, the interview was interpreted at a push AGAINST war fever, see http://turcopolier.typepad.com/sic_semper_tyrannis/2014/03/dempsey-pushes-back-against-war-fever-harper.html#more
Someone is going to be mightily embarrassed, and it is going to be either Dempsey if he fails to follow through on his hawkish threats, or Putin if he backs out of Crimea (can’t see that happening).
It is clearly a matter of who is going to lose face in the eyes of the international community.
At this point, the only way for Dempsey to avoid losing face is to start an actual war against Russia.
I am sure ordinary US folks are looking forward to seeing their courageous men and women die in the name of democracy in Ukraine.
@S.E: Friend – you rock! Thanks a lot for that reassuring clarification. Your comment was important enough that I posted it under my post as an update, along with short commentary.
As I always said – the best thing about this blog are definitely its readers :-)
Many thanks and kind regards,

Last night I watched the Mongolian film “Khadak.”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CThaKEWcW_4
That is probably one of the three best films I’ve ever seen. During the final scenes, the grandson hears his grandfather say: “How poor we are at defending ourselves….The spirit of the place where we were born and of the waters we bathed and even the stones of the riverbed…are dreaming of us. Even the souls of our ancestors are dreaming of us.”
Not long after that we see a band and a woman says this poem by Galsansukh Baatar.

This is the Mongolian poet’s Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/galsansukhb
Friends, something is wrong here!
Something…something is wrong here!
Video here
Well, well, well, it seems that there are increasing indications that I was right after all: If the US and its minions do not hold nuclear primacy vis a vis Russia (and no one on this blog has yet demonstrated conclusively to me that they do not), then it sure seems as if they BELIEVE they do, and are acting on the basis of said belief in their increasingly bellicose rhetoric and provocative military maneuvers.
And to set the record straight concerning my personal allegiances in the Ukrainian crisis: I believe that ALL earthly rulers are beasts in God’s eyes (see Daniel Chapter 7), and that only Christ’s Second Coming can set things right for humanity – both politically and in every other sense.
This is the Dempsey interview which includes both video and transcript below.
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/gen-dempsey-ukraine-military-sex-abuse-budget-cuts/
I don’t know if it’s genuine or not, but recently in Russian blogs surfaced this file:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/ih96tx
It is claimed to be hacked email archive of, according to signatures,
COL Igor PROTSYK
Chief, Bilateral Military Cooperation Division
Main Directorate for Military Cooperation and PKO
General Staff, Armed Forces of Ukraine
And in “most interesting” directory it contains three emails with plan for false flag operation that would implicate Russians in attacking Ukrainian airforce base, on pretty much direct request of Americans.
Now, some emails there contain DKIM signature, and some don’t, so there is no 100% certainty that everything there is true… for example, “american request” in “most interesting” doesn’t have one, while ones with actual plan do; it is possible that some that do contain signature would fail test, though those i’ve tested so far seem to pass.
So, how is it that the Jews, Oleksander Turchinov, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Vitali Klitschko, etc, have teamed up with the Ukrainian Neonazis to conduct a coup in the Ukraine.
Why is the coup always called a Neonazi coup but never a Jew coup (look it even rhymes).
The Ukrainian coup was organized by Jews; they got the most important positions of power.
So it was obviously a Jew coup. Then why the Neonazis? Simply so the lying press could say “It was a Neonazi coup.”
I think these Ukrainian Neonazis are actually a “false flag” group of Jews.
Hitler was the same. Hitler was actually a Jew.
I have gathered more evidence from various web-sites and people. It is very interesting;
1) Hitler ordered the tanks to stop for 3 days near Dunkirk when only a short distance away. This allowed the entire British army and part of the French army to escape to Britain.
2) Hitler refused to take Gibraltar and turn the Mediterranean into a “German lake”. There was nothing to stop the Germans from driving through Spain (their ally) and doing the job.
3) Hitler declared war on the United States.
4) Hitler refused to allow the tens of thousands of tons of weaponized nerve gas that the Germans had produced (at Dyhernfurth an der Oder) to be used. Over 500,000 artillery shells and about 100,000 bombs filled with nerve gas were found in their storage areas (mainly at Krappitz = Krapowice) at the end of the war.
5) Hitler refused to conquer Britain. After Dunkirk, Britain was totally defenseless.
6) Hitler refused to authorise the production of jet fighters. The Heinkel He 178 had its first successful flight in 1939, but the Jews Milch/Goering/Hitler showed no interest in it. The fighter version, the Heinkel He 280, was successfully demonstrated on April 5, 1941, but the Jews Milch/Goering/Hitler refused to put it into production. Hitler wasn’t interested in a plane that could travel a couple of hundred miles per hour faster than the others. Same story with the Messerschmitt jets.
7) Jewish financiers gave billions to finance Hitler’s rise to power.
8) Only the Nazi’s attempted to kill Hitler. The Americans, British and Soviets made no attempt to kill Hitler. It is known that the British refused to allow a number of feasible assassination plans to proceed.
9) An article from “The Jewish World” tells us that Hitler, Goering and Himmler, all have close relatives living as religious Jews in Israel today. Namely,
Hitler’s nephew’s grandson,
Matthias Goering – great-nephew of Hermann Goering, and
Katrin Himmler – the great-niece of Heinreich Himmler.

Learn from the past to prevent war in the future.
The U.S. blatantly lies “This was not a coup.”
So, Putin blatantly lies back “There are no Russian soldiers involved in events in Crimea.”
All in good fun.

This eastern Ukrainian news portal published a series of emails that call for a false flag op (to be blamed on Russia or pro-russian forces) on a Ukrainian airbase in Melitopol (east) by 3/15 as a provocation to get the US military involved.
He is saying if Russia recognises and accepts the eastern provinces (and crimea too?) ceding into Russia, NATO will push into Ukraine.
How is this a cooling off?
He is just saying the stuff about not be escalating things for PR purposes so as to not look like a warmonger.
I am not reading a cooling off save the assertions that it is by someone else.
Lastly, he is a glorified grunt, he takes orders and if the order is go, he will go.
So now they are realising that sanctions are not detering Russia, they will up the ante.
I suspect it will come to this, can/will the European NATO/EU do a James Blunt?
And Japan will be running out of rope soon too economically. Plus a shooting match with Japan will be quite convenient for Dongnanhai too. Well, such is humanity’s life on this plane on existence.

my first post…not sure if it went through but here are Anonymous hacked emails from Banderas calling for false flag attack on Uk AFB in Melitopol before 3/15 to get US military in-country. Very disturbing if ture, and should be expected anyway with these scoundrels.
What is not calculated in that the West does wish to wage limited nuclear war on it’s terms. I love the military commanders talking, it is almost a grainy black and white late 50’s TV comedy. “Ivan, just want to let you know that B-52 is leaving the Fail Safe point.”

Greetings from Singapore:
I did expect Obama to play the oil card. What can he achieve? $95.– eventually. Putin can live with this. Anyway, oil will not stay there and go up again, due to creeping inflation (money devaluation).
My view is that, eventually, Merkel will try to get a compromise. She is the one which got most to loose here. Possibly in line with: Russia keeps Crimea but Russia respects the integrity of Ukraine (without Crimea).
Sounds like the Russians and the Americans have come to an agreement – the Russians will not go further north from Crimea at the moment, and the Americans will claim that the Russians were stopped after there was a red line drawn by the States.
So – Putin is going to safe Obama’s ass. Again. This time though Putin is going to be rewarded for sure.
Crimea would be the prize.
Saker, do you have any idea of what really transpired at the Security Council meeting Monday: http://www.voltairenet.org/article182644.html

Another reason why sanctions wont happen.
How long does it take to develop a reliable rocket engine? I´m betting its definitely not before Russian rocket engine stocks run out in 2016 in the USA.

Yatsy to be on webcast of Atlantic Council between 4:00 – 5:00pm today.
http://www.atlanticcouncil.org/events/webcasts/the-future-of-ukraine-leadership-under-siege
It doesn’t say what timezone.
This is how the Atlantic Council describes itself.
http://inagist.com/all/443771946225115136/
The Atlantic Council promotes constructive leadership and engagement in international affairs based on the central role of the Atlantic Community in meeting global challenges. Founded in 1961, the Council provides an essential forum for navigating the dramatic shifts in economic and political influence that are shaping the twenty-first century by educating and galvanizing its uniquely influential, nonpartisan network of international political, business, and intellectual leaders. Through the papers we write, the ideas we promote, and the communities we build, the Council’s ten regional centers and functional programs shape today’s policy choices and foster transatlantic strategies to advance international security and global economic prosperity.
That confession speaks volumes about which side of the tracks they’re on. These are the people that Bloomberg quoted with the false Dempsey quote.
Those of us who know Mart Dempsey know he is no clown and no warmonger. Like his bosses Hagel and Obama, he knows the score on the jew crew. They cannot openly flout the Jew World Order, so instead they fail forward and look “weak”. They want to bring Russia into the world order on bonorable and reasonable terms. The Jews couldnt have that, thus the coup in Ukraine during Sochi 2014.
@Afterthought:Those of us who know Mart Dempsey
Do you know him personally? Have you worked with him? Can you tell us anything about his record on resisting crazy military adventures (Syria)?
Thanks,

Israel supports both sides in Ukraine?

When Obama was threatening Tomahawk missile launches against Syria on a Friday a few months ago, Gen. Dempsey went to the White House on the following day (Saturday morning). People believe Dempsey told Obama that he could not attack Syria. I would bet there is a back channel communication between the Russian and USA military. The Russian probably told the USA to not attack Syria or shooting would start.
The biggest threat for the Pentagon is for the Russian missile to show that U.S. military technology has fallen behind Russia’s. The U.S. F-22 and F-35 are not effective. Russia’s S400/S500, Su35, anti-ship missiles and anti-tank missiles are superior to comparable American weapons. The USA defense contractors are corrupt and the quality of weapons is not as high as it used to be. Few countries are buying USA weapons. Dempsey does not war and the Pentagon does not want to take on Russia’s superior weaponry. Russia shooting down American missiles, planes or sinking of warships would hurt the USA Defense industry.
Russia and Syria need to be very alert to the USA trying to increase their attacks on Syria.
Re: zerohedge
It’s a very up-to-date link collection. Analyses are completely useless and predictable. There are only 2 types of analysis Tyler Durden can come up with:
1) OMFG! It is much worse than we thought.
2) See. I told you so.
The attention span of this guy is below TV consumer average. To his credit though, the articles are not as bad as the comments. (Well, check the comments to see how much credit that is).
Honk
> Few countries are buying USA weapons.
Let me quote SIPRI:
According to the SIPRI Arms Transfers Database, the USA was the largest arms exporter for the period 2008-2012, accounting for 30% of world deliveries.
http://www.sipri.org/googlemaps/2013_of_at_top_20_exp_map.html
Not that it is necessarily a statement on their quality, but the numbers show that US weapons do one thing pretty well: they sell!

@ 2014 19:30 “To his credit though, the articles are not as bad as the comments.”
On every single “popular” blog, etc, you have Jews and a few others “discussing” things and “creating” or “adjusting” the opinion of the few others.
If the issue has two sides then you have two groups of Jews, one group on each side of the issue.
The side playing false opposition is often marginally anti-Jew.
Anything too anti-Jew is censored.
Treaty obligations ! For Americans imperialism makes treaty obligations flexible
