It has become rather obvious to the world that the latest events in Yemen are yet another illustration of the phenomenal inability of US foreign policy to get anything done. For a quick primer on this topic, see this excellent Cross Talk show or this article of mine. Today I want to comment on something usually less discussed: the mind boggling cowardice of the US military.
The US military has been using Yemen for a long time now as a base for its so called “anti-terrorist” operations. For this purpose, US special forces and other units were deployed in what was then a friendly environment. In military terms this, by definition, means that the entry conditions were ideal and that the US military had all the time and resources to establish a solid presence in Yemen. And yet, as soon as the proverbial bovine excreta hit the fan, all these “tough” super-dooper, secret and oh so “special” forces ran for their lives. The US diplomats at the local Embassy also ran for their lives. Which would have been fine, had they not left 4000 US citizens in the country under the pretext (official – from the Pentagon!) that it would be “too dangerous” to evacuate them! In a bizarre twist, three human rights organizations in the USA are now suing (what else?) the Obama Administration and the Pentagon over such a cowardly decision.
Think of it: the US Special Forces ran first and the civilians were simply abandoned! Is this how a self-respective empire behaves?
Compare that to the Chinese who without asking anybody’s permission send their own (real) special forces in and evacuated their citizens without suffering a single casualty. Then came the Russians who did the same and who even evacuated a large group of foreign nationals from 19 different countries in the process (including 18 US nationals).
Even the usually spineless and incompetent Europeans have evacuated their nationals in numerous occasions, especially from conflict zones in Africa, sometimes in very dangerous conditions (as in Rwanda for example).
Lest that somebody think that Russia had an easy time because the locals were pro-Russian I want to remind everybody here that the insurgents overran the local Russian embassy and used it as a command post. As for the local al-Qaeda franchise, it is no less anti-Russian than it is anti-American.
Finally, Russian and Chinese forces had to act alone without any hope of support from their national militaries. The US forces could have counted on the full power of CENTCOM including air support from fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, USN vessels, electronic warfare and intelligence, etc. In Yemen the US truly “had it all”. And yet they ran abandoning 4’000 of their own nationals because evacuating them would have been “too dangerous”. And this is the single biggest difference between the (regular) Russian and Chinese soliders and the US forces (including the “special” ones!): Both the Russian and the Chinese commanders know that they can give the following order to their troops and that they will be obeyed: “enter the conflict area, evacuate all our nationals at any cost, including your own lives, even if all of you have to die in the process”.
I want to share with you a Russian “demotivator” which illustrates the very little respect or credibility the US solider has in Russia (and, I would argue, in most other countries).
This demotivator shows on the left a very “cool” looking US solider and, on the right, a rather simple looking Russian solider. The text under both photos is exactly the same. It says: ” a private from the US/Russian armed forces, a professional solider, during an operation in a combat zone“. The text below says “one has to be fed, clothed, armed, paid, etc. The other one just needs the order “there” and he will execute his mission. At any cost“.
I think that there is a lot of truth to this.
Check out the excellent article “Why the Russians cannot be defeated” on our brother (well, in this case, sister) in arms at the Fort Russ website. This article shows the famous case of a single Russian solider solider stopping a full column of Georgian soldiers (and reporters who saw it all). Please read the article, it is very good. I just want to add the following to try explain why the Russian and US soldiers are so dramatically different. I will offer just a few bullet points up for discussion:
- The US culture is primarily a commercial culture. The Russian is a military one.
- The US solider replies on his superior technology. The Russian on his willpower.
- The US society in individualistic. The Russian is collectivistic.
- US weapon systems are designed by engineers. Russian ones by military men.
- For the American death is the worst case. For the Russian it is surrender.
- The US solider seems himself as a killer. The Russian one sees himself as a protector.
- The US society is casualty adverse. The Russian one is defeat adverse.
- The USA today is run by a lawyer. Russia by by an intelligence officer.
- The US President represents the 1%. The Russian one the 85%+
These are just examples, sketches to a much more complex reality, but I think that these factors are all too often overlooked even though they are crucial.
Simply put, neither the shameful Mogadishu debacle (aka “Operation Gothic Serpent”) nor the pathetic invasion of Grenada (aka “Operation Urgent Fury”) would have happened even to a small, say battalion size, Russian direct action force (say Naval Infantry or Airborne). As for Russian special forces, they have shown what they are capable of in Crimea.
To be honest, given the choice I would much prefer having a British or a French force evacuating my citizens as in both of these countries there are still very capable forces left even if the overall condition of the military is either poor (UK) or terrible (France).
The US armed forces suffer from what I call the “Israeli military syndrome”: they used to be much tougher in the past (the US fought very well in the Pacific or in Korea), but they truly lost their edge in innumerable petty wars with a much weaker enemy (in the Israeli case including civilians, women and children) and they became infinitely arrogant. They lost the single most important component of the mind of the fighting man: willpower.
In conclusion I want to say that I don’t blame the US solider for any of that. The reality is that for many years already the US military has been commanded by arrogant non-entities like Generals Petraeus (aka “an ass-kissing little chickenshit“ and “General Betray Us“) or Clark (who almost started WWIII). That happened in Russia too, by the way, anybody remember “Pasha” Grachev (who promised to take Grozny in 72 hours with just one Airborne regiment!)? The Pentagon is probably the most corrupt organization on the planet and the US regime is run by politicians with no honor or integrity. This will destroy any military.
But the fact is that the US armed forces are huge and generally unable to accomplish much than striking at a vastly inferior adversary. Confronted with even rather primitive but determined foe – they run. The latest debacle in Yemen just provides the latest example in a long string of most embarrassing military failures which all point to the same conclusion: the Empire’s military is a shell, a paper-tiger, not a force capable of taking on, much less so defeating, a sophisticated, powerful and determined enemy.

“The Russian one the 85%+”
Just because they say they like him doesn’t mean he represents them.
They don’t just “like him” – he is not a movie star of soccer player – they support his policies and surveys specifically show that what makes him so popular is that most Russians feel that he stands or their interests. But, stricto sensu, yes, you are right. Legally he represents 100% of Russians.
Cheers,

The difference in Obama and Putin is that Putin clearly loves his country and its people, and puts their interests before all other considerations in governing.
Obama, not so much.
@Putin clearly loves@
I guess you are too optimistic about our leader)). The main difference between them is, at my take, that Obama is a political cover for real rulers of USA. But Putin is a real ruler (one of several) – it is our feature, we do not obey to a “weak” leader, our System doesn’t work properly without “the steel hand”. But It looks like the USA’s System has no need in such strong leader on the top in public to be deadly effective.
I’m not so much worried about loving a country – dirt is much the same anywhere.
Why is it clear that he loves his people?
It seems he might love some a lot more than others http://rt.com/business/russia-world-household-wealth-944/ (Oct 11 2013)
So what does a garbled story from two and a half years ago prove about anything? what does this mean?
“….with half of the adult population owning $871 billion. This compares to $301,000 average wealth per adult in the US,…”
Comparing total wealth of half the population (which half??) with a per person figure for another country? that’s not even apples and oranges, that is apples and seashells.
A less garbled version of the same report admits they “estimated” the value of real estate in Russia. In other words the “figures” are based on guesswork for a major source of wealth.
“…Credit Suisse themselves point out that Russia’s wealth data may be inaccurate due to a lack of data on the value of non-financial assets, and Leonid Bershidsky of Bloomberg goes a little further to pointing out why “measuring wealth is an immensely complicated business,” especially in Russia, where property data is not included in wealth figures (Credit Suisse was forced to “estimate” real assets”)….”

you read the question wrong, more attractive means different.
@ Russia’s model is the same basis i.e. predatory capitalism@
I guess Russia is greatly worst here – I call our current economy as “Bazaar capitalism” But we are fast developing in some spheres. In September 2014 it was adopted a huge complex of amendments to our Corporative law (for example, It was dramatically changed a body of clauses that regulate responsibility of legal entity’s directors).
If it comes to Leading Idea (like “communism” or “American dream”) we have nothing by now. Only our traditions and our Proud (at the first – Proud if the Victory over Nazism) – but they are not widespread ideas in terms of International agenda.
Those Bazaar’s must be pretty well organised affairs?
Russia has over 100 Billionaire’s.
Exactly!

Just because somebody loves you doesn’t mean you love them.
I think so too! Obama and EU leaders are there to increase their wealth, not to care for the common people, and people feel it.
This is about perception management, not about the true nature of the beast. The issue isn’t what you and I see to be true but what the masses feel to be true. We’re in a crisis of ideas, where many of the views of the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie are taken for granted, or as the result of human progress. Faith in game theory, technological solutions, statistical knowledge… Everything that Jung, Heidegger, the Frankfurt School and many real religious leaders criticize about modern society. Zizek (not a big fan) points out that it’s easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism.
It is incredibly hard to create a whole functioning social model, whether better or worse than the AZ one. If it happens it probably will do so via a cataclysmic event and I believe it will involve a new creative combination of paleo-conservativism and socialism. As predicted by Khazin the Russian Orthodox church (or at least someone in it) recently announced the need for a form of socialism. This is a step in the right direction but the struggle will be long and bitter.
Saker,
As an aside to my main point below: BTW, I realize you don’t monitor the Western Propaganda Stream Network, but you missed the main force that has been evacuating their own citizens as well as Foreigners (including many Russians) – as reported by RT, the BBC, and Al-Jazeera- and that is the Indian Navy and the Indian Government commissioned Air-India flights:
Here’s how the figures break down:
India evacuated 5600 people (mostly by the Indian Navy, using Destroyers, Frigates, a Stealth Corvette and a hospital ship) of which 960 were foreigners – including westerners (Americans, Canadians, French, Germans and Belgians) as well as Russians and ASEAN citizens.
Source: ( http://indianexpress.com/article/explained/explained-leaving-yemen/ )
China evacuated 900 people of which 279 were foreigners.
Source ( http://sinosphere.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/04/08/rescue-mission-in-yemen-proves-to-be-boon-for-chinese-militarys-image/?_r=0 )
Russia evacuated over 600 people, more than half or which were foreigners.
Source ( http://rt.com/news/249345-yemen-evacuation-russia-gratitude/ )
If you want to talk about balls, the Indian Foreign Office Minister V.K. Singh was on the Indian evac flights to help guarantee the safety of the passengers (I wonder how many feckless Western Politicians would take such a risk?). It gets even better, for the first time in history the Pakistani navy helped evacuate Indian citizens and the Indians reciprocated by evacuated Pakistanis. Source: ( http://in.reuters.com/article/2015/04/10/yemen-india-idINKBN0N10PV20150410 )
It must be thoroughly humiliating for some of those Western citizens to know what their governments really think of them.
My Main Point:
You’ve missed the entire point of the US not picking up their citizens, it has nothing to do with cowardice. It has to do with the fact that demographic status of the “Americans” left stranded in Yemen – they have no political or economic standing or importance to America’s establishment; in other words they are 2nd or 3rd class citizens. The US is, by now, a pseudo corporate state.
Had the stranded “Americans” in Yemen been upper-class blonde females (important to a large “blinkered” voting demographic group) or wealthy Saudi American relatives of the House of Saud (important to the US govt/establishment), you can bet that the US would spare no expense(in lives or materials) to extract them. There’s also the concern that some of the returning Yemeni Americans might be closet terrorists (the political whores in the US system would have a field day blaming the current administration for letting them in, if at some future date, they committed a terrorist act.)
I don’t believe a country that sent its troops into Afghanistan and has kept them there can be accused of cowardice.
In theory, it is true that “Just because they say they like him doesn’t mean he represents them.”. However, it is a very god approximation of reality.
Popularity doesn’t prove righteousness.
Winston Churchill was, at least, partially resaponsible for the war crime bombing of Dresden http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_war_crimes
Back off on this one, the bombing of Dresden was in retaliation for the carpet bombing of Coventry by the Nazis. Like Dresden, Coventry had little military or strategic value, it was done primarily to demoralize the population, and to show that they could.

Yemen’s Ansarullah: All Options Open to Respond to Saudi-Led Aggression
April 13, 2015 – 18:08
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A spokesman for Yemen’s Shiite Ansarullah movement warned against the consequences of the Saudi-led war on the Arabian Peninsula country, saying that “all options are open” to deal with the aggressors.
“Saudi Arabia with its military intervention and aggression on Yemeni soil has plunged itself into a vortex. All options are open for Yemenis,” Mohammad Abdul-Salam told the Lebanese-based Al Mayadeen TV channel.
Speaking of militaries that shun adversity, how ’bout those Saudis?
LOL the Saudis.
They store their army in the same place they store their nukes – in Pakistan.
And yet they ran abandoning 4’000 of their own nationals because evacuating them would have been “too dangerous”.

Obama is a coward
STOP saying that these are “failures”!!! Or their actions in “wasting” I mean spending trillions of fake USD are “incompetent”!!!
You guys (and gals) are looking from the wrong end of the Genocidal Lens! How can the utter destruction of another nation be termed “incompetence” when THAT is the very goal of the Yankees???
Look at Iraq, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, Libya, etc.: Mission Accomplished, Baby!
Sovereign nations utterly destroyed by Yankee’s Weapons of Death, Disease and Destruction! And if they are lucky, they get to rebuild what they destroyed . . . and in-debt their vassal nation with perpetual debts!!!
Permacide (the permanent “culture” of Death, Disease and Destruction!).
100% agree.
Deeming the Empires wars as ‘failures’ is through our own moral lens, or that of the war sales pitch about ‘democracy blah blah’.
But to the Machiavellian ZioGodfathers, Leo Strauss disciple NaziGangsters and other Depraved Warlords, there is method in their malevolence .
– Afghanistan and Pakistan : No doubt the poppy field business has paid dividends, and now positioned with missile bases, air fields and no doubt a lot of ‘al CIAda’ Taliban / Other proxy fighting forces for the ‘Pivot to Asia’.
– Iraq stage 1 : Destroyed a supporter of Palestine and once strong army with numerous wars; installed a sectarian constitution for breeding strife; booted out all the former govt employees and all military – to do what what? Fester in resentment and get employed in IS …. which is Stage 2 – balkanisation into small weak sectarian cantons now in progress (following splitting off Mossad controlled Kurdistan with stage 1)
– Libya : The first recent use of pure 4th Generational Warfare jihadi militia as the proxy boots on the ground ….
Apart from heisting the old and African Bank reserves, taking over the aquifer and other lucrative projects, leaving the nation festering in anarchy perfect for set up of Boko Haram and a clearing house of arms and jihadi’s for AFRICOM operations … half of Africa on fire and off to save 270 girls we go (save them from their oil, coltan, uranium etc and Chinese investment in infrastructure and old fashioned win-win deals)
– Syria : Pure 4th Generational Warfare after the bought ‘FSA’ got no support. Enough demented jihadi’s and economically nothing-left-to-lose desperado’s willing to work as cheap cannon fodder …. so another of Israel’s neighbours destroyed
– Lebanon and Iraq are still on the hit list … and enough demented wahhabi’s and Saudi’s deep oily pockets to keep them coming in battalions.
And now it’s all ‘leading from behind’ as US-UK train the local cannon fodder to go spill their blood – and take care of ‘our security interests’ like guarding poppy fields and oil wells. Supplemented by screened psycho’s of Academi and Aegis who wont whistleblow, commit suicide or get PTSD.
The good thing for the Machiavellian Megalomaniacs is that when the usefulness of their proxy forces is over or if they get PTSD or become a problem – just kill them. For they are ‘terrorists’.
Cheap, nasty and deadly urban terrorist warfare …. No Geneva conventions and alot of plausible deniability as they maintain the charade of ‘War on Terror’ and ever morphing names of their Al CIAda forces “Rebels” today when we train and arm them, “Khourasan” pops up to with fake beheading videos to get acquiescence to go back into Iraq and back doo of Syria to ‘fight’ IS – but are actually dropping weapons, directing them.
New theme never seen till this–had to happen what with all the AIIB & SCO news these past months, & the “election” 2016 coming with maybe the Hildabeeste in the running (literally).
Adm. William Gortney, the commander of the U.S. Northern Command, said that China deployed three submarines armed with ballistic missiles at sea. The submarines, the commander said, may strike the United States with nuclear missiles.
According to Gortney, the submarines will be able to strike the United States when fully deployed with missiles and warheads. The Chinese subs have been deployed in the South China Sea at a base on Hainan Island.

Lest you forget that probably the majority of those Americans left in Yemen are Yemenis become American citizens or their American born offspring or in the general parlance of the “indispensable nation” towel heads. Of course stupidity and cowardliness cannot be reduced to such simple formulas as my comment does but there is no doubt looking at the general culture in the US that it is not to be excluded!!!
As a former Russian military, convinced Russian chauvinist and sworn soldier of Mother-Russia I beg to notice that I completely disagree with the main sense of article above, which I understand as “USA’s soldiers are cowards”. They US Army is just a power organized in other way, then we, Russians. Of course the Russians are the same –we require victories and forget about loses. Of course we will fight if shit hit the fan. But so what? US Army not alone as we are – US Army has an entire NATO. And more of this – USA has obviously supreme in economy and information turnover. They no need to cover grenades, as one Russian officer, I personally knew, did. To the bravery of the Mad we sing our song!”. “. But as one my mentor once said – “A mistake always stays behind each heroism”.
But Americans just control the entire System with forces (brave or coward – no matter) they have. Who cares about some American civilians in danger? Just the next reason for Hollywood to film new cinema about it and get some more money.
We, so brave Russians, screwed up vast majority of our ancestors’ heritage, we gladly exchanged our Country for Pepsi and jeans, we easily betrayed our allies and our own History. This is why we kill each other now in Ukraine.
Bravery doesn’t rule the world, but the Cold Mind does.
This is why USA rules our damn Godforsaken world by now.
You sort of read the article wrong then if you think its calling american soldiers cowards. Let me quote it for you: “In conclusion I want to say that I don’t blame the US solider for any of that. The reality is that for many years already the US military has been commanded by arrogant non-entities like Generals Petraeus (aka “an ass-kissing little chickenshit“ and “General Betray Us“) or Clark (who almost started WWIII).”
Its about the commanders and not the soldiers.
@Its about the commanders and not the soldiers.@
I have to confess that I’ve expressed my ideas in the incorrect way. I’ll try again: 1. USA’s army is effective enough without well-spread heroism like in Russian army. 2. USA’s Army in coalition with USA’s supreme in the soft power provide Global leadership to the USA, but we, Russians, with all our heroism, follow USA’s will and now kill each other in the Donbass war.3. If the USA’s civilians were not evacuated from Yemen – it supposedly can be done by intent of USgov.
I completely disagree with the main sense of article above, which I understand as “USA’s soldiers are cowards”
You completely misunderstood my article.

Documents about joint plans of Kiev and NATO as well as of military structures of the USA and the UK to conduct psychological operations in eastern Ukraine, the Donbass and Russia have surfaced on the Internet.
According to the Nezavisimaya Gazeta newspaper, the English-language website drakulablog.com has published a number of confidential materials on Ebola and the Islamic state. However, the folder with documents about the psychological pressure on the Russian leadership is most interesting.
The folder on Russia contains materials about the meeting from February 19 2015 on Strategic Communications in Riga. The file also contains a draft agreement about financial support for Ukrainian non-governmental organizations from the UK government worth more than 240,000 euro, as well as two information-psychological plan operations (IPO) called “Free Donbass” (in Ukrainian) and “Free Russia.”
The most corrupt “prize” would have to go to the CIA. Nothing but terrorism, coups, assassinations and drug running since 1947.

That is awkward, as we cannot see our comments immediately after posting them. Speaking for myself, I do not return to a page of comments after posting, as I have plenty of other things to do. Thus, on this site, I never see my own comments (not a problem) or any replies to them (a pity).
Dear Tom, we do what we can. At times, like now, moderation is almost immediate, sometimes you have to wait a few minutes, and at other times, it is true, hours. We are in different parts of the world, but we are few, and can not cover the entire schedule. Some may bring many hours and others only a few. Believe it or not, we, apart from moderate, we also have a lot of things to do. While I answer, me now, I’m having dinner.
It’s a pity you do not have more time to be here and to see the answers to your comments. Try to take time and you may find that your interest grows.
Sometimes you could find answers in threads from days ago.

I hope I’m not the only one who appreciates effort to keep the trolls under the bridge. A little moderation goes a long way in keeping this from devolving into a food fight as seen on so many other sites where it has become useless to read the comments anymore.

From Lugansk and Kharkov tactical (NATO) cruise missiles can reach behind the Urals, where our main nuclear deterrence forces are located. And they can hit silo-based and road-mobile (Russ) ballistic missiles on the ascent trajectory with a 100% probability. Currently this area is not reachable by them neither from Poland nor from Turkey nor from the South-East Asia. This is the main goal. So the US will fight for Donbass to the last Ukrainian.
We were outplayed: “son of a bitch” Yanukovich had to be evacuated with the help of Spetsnaz and Washington placed its own “sons of bitches”?
– From the strategic-military point of view, of course we were outplayed. Russia got “compensation” – Crimea. There is “compensation” — the resistance by the residents of the south-east of Ukraine. But the enemy already got huge territory, which was a part of the Soviet Union and the Russian Empire.
– What are we going to see in Ukraine this year?
– The process of semi-disintegration or even utter disintegration.
http://cassad-eng.livejournal.com/153079.html#cutid1
So then how much clearer can the answer be “don’t let the NATO forces continue to control Ukraine”.It is too great a threat no matter the cost to stop it. I can’t even imagine the level of stupidity needed for people to not see that.
The evacuation of the embassies had little to do with security. Even the NY Times wrote at that time that security was good in Sanaa – and they were astonished for that reason.
In fact the evacuation was an informal seal of approval for the Saudi attack that was at that time being prepared. It was a great success for the Americans: many countries participated.
yeah, not much to argue with. Except that the USSR was not lost militarily. Is a US-Russia military conflict even possible? The fact that a big peice of Rus has already been ripped away psychologically and culturally, that the people there let it happen, let their sentiments/identity be manipulated and inflamed in service of interests that hold no values or principles and no real care for malorussian wellbeing, is a huge failure.
It now comes down to a civilizational struggle. How good is Putin going to be at this really? How much is he just a sovereigntist for domestic profiteering interests? How can Russia build a model that is more attractive than Wall Street’s? It requires raw power, culture, education, and a big idea, really an effective and attractive ‘ideological state apparatus.’ Any form of parochialism whether national or religious will be the end of Russia.
The hollowness of the west is gradually becoming more apparent to some. I don’t see how without another major financial crisis the tables could decisively turn. Let’s not underestimate the implacable US insistence on using Ukraine and every other means necessary to destroy Russia. The Ukraine catastrophe isn’t about culture, identity or economics, it’s about a zero sum existential struggle between Russia and the US. Culture and economics are subordinate to that. Many, many eastern europeans are incredibly obstinate on seeing the west in rose-coloured glasses. They don’t understand that the end-game is the dismantlement of all values and human dignity.
On this (HP Index) basis both the US & Russia are near the foot of the table (US = 37.3, Russia (even worse) = 34.5.
Putin could do much better, e.g

Seriously though, your question is central. Unfortunately mankind is greedy and self-centred.
It seems likely Animal Farm will be developed further.
The idea that ‘mankind is greedy and self-centred’ is a pillar of AZ power. Their main ideological support collumn.
It’s not un-true, but it’s such a simplification that it might as well be. I forget the formal name for this type of fallacy, look up ‘Sophistical Refutations.’
Human nature is extremely flexible and adaptive, mind-bogglingly so. In different environments and situations we fluxuate between tendencies toward selfishness and cooperation. The extreme to either end is rare and arguably pathalogical (sociopathy/codependence).
But even to overcome this vital bit of propaganda will be a long and bitter struggle.

“…[]…Feeding the industrial machine
Considering the history of western thought, it’s no surprise we view every element on Earth as feedstock for industrialization. The only question for industrial humans is when we exploit Earth’s bounty, not if. The logical progression, then, is to exploitation of humans to further feed the industrial machine.
Within the last few years, personnel departments at major institutions became departments of human resources. Thus, whereas these departments formerly dealt with persons, they now deal with resources. There’s a reason you feel like a cog in a grand imperial scheme: Not only are you viewed as a cog by the machine, and also by those who run the machine, but any non-cog-like behavior on your part leads to rejection of you and your actions. Seems youre either a tool of empire or you’re a saboteur (i.e., terrorist).
It’s time to invest in wooden shoes.
As if even a small proportion of people in the industrialized world are willing to poke a stick in the eye of the corporations that run and ruin our lives.
Why is that? Probably because we think we depend upon them, when in fact they depend upon us. And, to a certain extent — to the extent we allow — we do depend upon industrial culture for our lives. But only in the short term, and only as self-absorbed, comfortable individuals unwilling to make changes in our lives (even ones that are necessary to our own survival).
Taking the longer, broader view, it’s evident industrial culture is killing the living planet, and our own species. The cultural problem we face is not that we’re fish out of water. Rather, it’s that we’re fish in a river. We don’t even know there’s an ocean, much less a landbase.
Humans and humanity
Aye, there’s the rub. Evolution demands short-term thinking focused on individual survival. Most attempts to overcome our evolutionarily hardwired absorption with self are selected against. The Overman is dead, killed by a high-fat diet and unwillingness to exercise. Reflexively, we follow him into the grave.
Ultimately, we follow Nietzsche’s Overman because we’re tragically flawed organisms that, like other animals, lack free will.
Unlike Descartes, Nietzsche concluded that our flaws define us, and therefore can’t be overcome. We’re human animals, hence far too human to overcome the tragedy built in by evolution. Although we are thinking animals — what Nietzsche termed res cogitans — we are prey to muddled thoughts, that is, to ideas that lack clarity and distinctness. Nietzsche wasn’t so pessimistic or naive to believe all our thoughts are muddled, of course.
Ultimately, though, incompetence defines the human experience.
It’s a short, easy step from Nietzsche’s conclusion — we are flawed organisms — to industrial culture as a product of our incompetence. But the same step can be taken for every technology, with industrial culture as the potentially fatal blow. In other words, progress means only that we accelerate the rapidity with which bad things happen to societies, consistent with Jevons’ paradox and its latest manifestation, the Khazzoom-Brookes postulate.
American exceptionalism thus becomes one more victim of the imperial train wreck that began when we first made tools.”
“The cultural problem we face is not that we’re fish out of water. Rather, it’s that we’re fish in a river. We don’t even know there’s an ocean, much less a landbase.”
This hypothesis is sometimes posed as the following question:
Does a goldfish swimming in a bowl perceive that its world is bound by transparent constraints ?
A term once again come to the fore to make itself known, this time the Yemeni-Amers but just like every other time, one of the most apt puns i’ve ever seen, where the sheep get to experience firsthand what their keepers & overlords really think of them.
The sheep really really do believe they are frei, with rights yet.
Shitizen (n.) can refer to those people who are officially citizens but treated unjustly by their government as if they are just indentured servants or even slaves.

Add to the incompetent Generals, Carter Ham, AFRICOM, who watched from the Pentagon the slaughter at Benghazi, failed to send in help, though he was the one who launched the “unarmed” Predator to send live video to the Pentagon, the WH situation room, and the State Department.
Add to that, Ray Odierno, now Chief of Staff of the Army, who has Iraq to his credit line. He masterminded all the conditions which led to ISIS taking Iraq in about 8 hours in a long line of brand new Toyota trucks. Mosul anyone?
The list of heterosexual generals is endless and endlessly incompetent. But wait! Soon we’ll have the Obama LGBT generals who have been taking over the command structure everywhere. Imagine how these deviants will perform. This bathhouse gang is the impetus for more and more skilled soldiers leaving early and going to private contractors.
However, all these incompetents make the US that much more reckless and dangerous to everyone everywhere.
They are preparing wars for East Asia, South China Sea, and real trouble in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan (next to Afghanistan and China). US military can create chaos. This is their mission.
Winning is beyond their abilities. And the sh*t flows down from the top echelons of command.
Good, patriotic men and women wasted in senseless combat. Uncountable innocents killed.
Nothing wrong with the US (etc) soldier . And nothing wrong with LGBTI soldiers (ect) they will fight just as well as anyone else,
In fact many LGBTI people have something to prove and will probably try a lot harder..
There have always been LGBTI people in armed forces of all nations (inc Russa) through all of time. They have been usually hidden, in many places and in many times due to the social constraints of societies, but they were there all right, just as good, just as patriotic and just as effective as any otthers.
Here in Australia, and most think our forces are pretty good with a pretty impressive record through all the various wars, we have a Lt General who is transgendered. No one thinks she is incompetent at all, anything but.
Plus if you look back in the past Alexander didn’t seem to do too badly, or the Spartans……
As Mark G said “The problem is with most of the leadership …”
The perfect examaple of that was in 1942 in North Africa. The British has been out fought, out manoueuvered, out thought at every point by the Germans and Italians under Rommel. Pushed right back into Egypt.
Two months after Montgomery took over, the exact same army smashed the Africa Corps and drove them right out of Libya, hammering Rommel every time he tried to make counter attack or make a stand.
Good generals matter.
good generals also need support- Rommel was cut off from that in a number of areas prior to “Monty” showing up- The Germans fought on without reinforcements, oil, equipment replacement, etc. Meanwhile, overwhelming shipments of men and materials were landed from America on the African north shore. Monty was nothing but old school British aristocracy, who was put in place to placate the British upper classes, and a showboat who wasn’t worthy of Rommels shoe polish.
The tide of battle in the desert war went back and forth largely dependent on whether the Brits had recently broken the German radio transmission codes and the length of logistical support lines. The Brits were also very devious at faking various measures and movements while the Germans knew how to maneuver brilliantly, or treachery with fore knowledge versus skill.
@ Lisa,
Have you spent [any] time in a/ny military academy?
Do you know why the German Army did not annihilate the British forces, stuck on the beaches of Dunkirk?
Well, it is well known that buggery was an initiation rite in armies from Antiquity to our very days. But it involved only males. Never heard of “L” in any army.
I wouldn’t underestimate the fighting capabilities of the US soldiers. The problem is with most of the leadership and the public.
I just want to add that Russia has sent in 5 flights so far, I believe, the Chinese navy went in to evacuate at least twice as did the Russian Navy.
The Algerians sent in a charter flight and incurred the wrath of the Saudis. The Pakistanis & Thais also sent in evacuation resources into Yemen and the US 0.

Saker, you forgot to mention the “Operation Allied Force” (in Serbia), which was, perhaps one of their bigger embarrassments. They prepared the best they have for “shock and awe” campaign that will end the Serbian resistance in 48h max. It was 50th anniversary of NATO and they were determined to show they mean business. (they had to show them Russkys and Chinese too what NATO is). More than 1000 NATO aircraft took off and the rest is history…
Sometime in the middle of the campaign, Pentagon gave statements that on Kosovo alone, some 200 Serbian tanks were destroyed (among other things), and that Serbian army is in tatters, morale low etc.
After the Operation has ended it was revealed that total of 14 tanks (LOL) were damaged/destroyed. However, even those were towed back for the repairs. :)
And the anti-aircraft defense was active on the last day as well as it was on the first one. Only prob. was that we didn’t have anything modern of long-range anti-aircraft systems and they flew almost exclusively above 15.000 feet.
They themselves admitted that ground offensive would be a disaster.
However, many are not aware that there were boots on the ground and that ground offensive was tried but ended in a massive failure. This happened at Košare / Кошаре. Some Russian volunteers fought there together with Serbs.
Obama needs these 4000 americans trapped in yemen because if the houthis defeat saudi arabia a good reason will be required to wage a full scale war during a presidential campaign.
re: US military and Yemeni-American evacuation: Not so much cowardice or incompetence as racism. Were they Jewish or Israeli Americans or White College Students, we would have had Fox News cheering on their successful “rescue”.
As for the US military….they think they can play chicken with the Russians and win. And make their losing the basis for
“Operation Payback”
Obama has removed nearly all high ranked officiers, who refuse to fire on American people (dissidents, constutionalists, gunowners, etc.) in the case of martial law. So what’s left has no real loyality to the US whatsoever. Let’s see what will happen, when “Jade Helm 15” gets startet and eventually switched “live”.
When it comes to the attractiveness of Wallstreet I would closely listen, to what Xi Jinping and Wladimir Putin have told the world. The world will to a large degree be de-dolarized. The first steps have been taken with the foundation of the NDB BRICS and the AIIB. Furthermore we can expect, that the Yuan will be included in the SDR and the US will lose their veto rights at the IMF – by the way, many of the European countries support this.
Read, what Larry Summer recently wrote:

If the description of the US and the RF proverbial soldiers is correct so why Putin is such a coward not defending and saving Russians in Banderastan? He must truly hate those New Russians (Novorossians) and deeply love his economic and liberal stooges. Not to mentioning the German Chancellor hag with the German FM lackey… The war in Donietsk has just started and it is going on now, once more. Where are the bold Generals and Kremlin’s CinC now?
Just because you CAN do something doesn’t mean that it’s a good idea or the best path to an ultimate goal. Leaders are paid to see the big picture, not respond to every schoolyard taunt.
Thanks God!
That list of bullet points shows how not only the American military, but the entire American civilisation is morally degenerate. That being said by an American.

A warning to ‘Play Ball’? Explosive device lands in Govt Backyard.
While I would agree that the US military has atrophied in the the face of straw-man enemies and endless blank checks from Congress, I strongly disagree that the US abandoned its “nationals” due to cowardice. First off, had there been 4,000 white-faced Christians stranded in Yemen, they’d have been on a ship steaming for Suez three weeks ago. As someone above pointed out, no doubt the vast majority are Yemenis with US passports (dual citizens), not God fearing Christians from Iowa. For proof of this, when Israel was bombing Lebanon in 2006 (not just the south, but everywhere in the country), a massive US evacuation took place. The difference? There were thousands of Caucasian Americans there (I should know, I was one).
The real reason there is to be no evac (beyond the racist one, or rather, in light of there being no “real” US citizens there) is central to Washington’s evolving information warfare campaign: if you are in an “enemy” country (Iran, Syria, Lebanon, North Korea, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, and China) and war breaks out, you’re up the creek sans paddle. Why? According to the US, if you’re willingly in a country full of “bad guys,” you’re obviously up to no good, chugging the Koolaide, and sprouting off on Twitter how these “bad guys” actually just have a bad rep. For the Beltway, just by physically existing in a vorbotten country, you’re now a propaganda agent of the enemy. And propagandists, this day and age, are ripe for elimination (bombing of Radio Television Serbia, bombing of Al-Jazeera in Afghanistan, killing of al-Awlaki and teenage son, to name a few).
The real reason is to send a message: all those who fraternize with the enemy are the enemy. The goal is to frighten all those ex-pats, students, or dual-nationals who find themselves in a country in Washington’s crosshairs. “Get out now, or be left to your fate.” Afterall, it’s much easier to silence someone quoting an RT newscast of US misdeeds than a white-faced, God-fearing US witness of US misdeeds.
@ Don Wiscacho,
Q; vorbotten country
R; ‘verboten’ if you aim for a German angle. I can’t argue with the rest of your comment, coz I think it’s right on the mark. That’s a slugger [if there’s ever been one], hitting it out of the ballpark and straight into the nebulae of ‘Realpolitik.’
Agreed that “cowardice” is not part of the equation here.
I would add to your argument the cynical thought that stranded civilians can be useful in two other ways.
In addition to sending a message to expats that they could be labeled “enemies of the state”, abandoned civilians can serve as bait for either a future politically useful rescue, or as a casus belli to enter the fray in force should the wrong party get the upper hand.
In either case, damned cynical and the racial aspects of your argument remain poignant.

‘ The USA today is run by a lawyer. Russia by by an intelligence officer. ‘
The present POTUS is run by an ‘intelligence agency’ … the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate was brought along by the CIA and still salutes sharply the ‘brains’ of the Deep State. Brennan runs Obama.
Now you may say the CIA is no intelligence operation, that they are basically a gang of thugs and hoodlums. And I’d agree with you. But that is their designation in the US.
In fact what ‘intelligence’ there is at the CIA is second rate, is there just to function as the cover story for the Criminals In Action in covert operations’ … the whole in Uncle Sam’s arm where all the money goes.
Loss of courage is direct result of a culture fueled by materialism and consumption, where alleviation of every minor inconvenience even at a great cost to environment and future generations is considered a worthy pursuit (under the garb of individualism and right to pursue “happiness”).
Solzhenitsyn alluded to the same.
Sadly this culture is spreading everywhere, steam rolling indigenous cultures. I hope countries with strong historical and cultural roots e.g. China, India, Russia wake up and take steps to preserve their way of life.
Norway redirected it’s civilian fleet to Yemen on a voluntary basis, as is standard in these cases, and rescued the most foreigners, IIRC. Not a single shot was fired, and nobody died.
Norway have no navy to protect it’s merchant fleet, but since the fleet is so big, it is costly to shoot at it, as they will cease delivery to the new regime.
The ship-owners don’t even get compensation from the Norwegian state, but get back some money from those that skipped sending their own ships, and the homecountries of the foreigners they rescued.
Here be some truth and some not so true. Push comes to shove the citizens of the west make excellent soldiers once the initial reality of how difficult war is becomes apparent… provided they have a just cause to fight for, this despite their leadership. That the western political leadership is almost totally corrupted by the elites is true. That Putin represents the 85% is mistaken. While the current Russian regime is more responsive to the working classes does not mean that they are of the regime’s up most concern. I could go on but my grand daughter has requested use of the computer for a minute.
You’ve been watching too many Hollywood movies.
The military forces of the West aka US/UK/Israel plus their All-Lies aka Lapdogs are WEAK. They (minus Israel) fought Nazi Germany AFTER the latter lost WW2 to the Soviets in the War on the Eastern Front where more than 90% of WW2 in Europe was fought.
What War has the West ever won? WW2? Korea? Vietnam? Afghanistan? Iraq? Libya? Syria?
Ukie offensive gaining ground, forcing retreats. Givi’s sector near airport heavily involved.
US wants more death and Ukies obliging.
Usual anti-Putin carpers blaming him for not beating Kiev to a pulp.
This will go on for all of 2015. Plenty enough phony bailout money ready to keep the Ukies going.
And the US has plane load after plane load landing in Western Ukraine.
Death and destruction courtesy of the Nobel Peace winner feebly trying to bait Russia into a wide war.
Tell me why the current situation in the middle east and elsewhere is anything but a huge success for the Zionist coalition, the US Empire and their client states.….
The openly stated aim of Israel toward those who dare to oppose their superiority is to bomb such people back into the 12th(or whichever) century….This is exactly what has been and is still happening in the Middle East and elsewhere, so where is the failure?….This is a huge victory….Israel, USA, the Anglo’s, NATO, Saudi, Gulf Emirates etc are all essentially untouched….Failure, I don’t think so.
Even Russia has lost….The adjoining ’neutral’ states becoming NATO states have been thieved and laid waste, and Russia + the opposition to the Empire is being forced to waste billions on otherwise useless arms and armed forces, useless for the environment, useless for the ordinary man trying to live his life. Useless and such a waste in a time of ecological change.
So the US military appears to have failed but has it really. No, these are all great victories for the rich and famous of the status quo.

@“Israeli military syndrome”
You are right. To put a bit more flesh on this statement it is worth looking at who is behind the “strategic” thinking of US. The two obese flatfooted brothers Bobbie and Freddie Kagan with their lovely consorts Kim and Vicki F***k Eu.
Some short notes from Wikipedia:
“Frederick Kagan and his father Donald Kagan, who is a professor at Yale and a fellow at the Hudson Institute, together authored While America Sleeps: Self-Delusion, Military Weakness, and the Threat to Peace Today (2000). The book argued in favor of a large increase in military spending and warned of future threats, including from a potential revival of Iraq’s WMD program. Frederick along with his brother Robert Kagan, who is a member of the Aspen Strategy Group, and their father Donald, are all signatories to the Project for the New American Century manifesto titled Rebuilding America’s Defenses (2000).”
“Kimberly Ellen Kagan (born 1972) is an American military historian. She heads the Institute for the Study of War and has taught at West Point, Yale, Georgetown University, and American University….Dr. Kagan is the founder and President of the Institute for the Study of War. ISW describes itself as a “non-partisan non-profit think thank which seeks to provide research and analysis specifically regarding issues of defense and foreign affairs. ISW produces comprehensive reports on the realities of war; focusing on military operations, enemy threats, and political trends in diverse conflict zones”….As an influential member of the foreign policy brain trust in Washington, D.C., Dr. Kagan has been involved numerous public events.”
Robert Kagan (born September 26, 1958 in Athens, Greece) is an American historian, author, columnist, and foreign-policy commentator. Kagan is often characterized as a leading neoconservative, but prefers the term “liberal interventionist”….In 2006, Kagan wrote that Russia and China are the greatest “challenge liberalism faces today”: “Nor do Russia and China welcome the liberal West’s efforts to promote liberal politics around the globe, least of all in regions of strategic importance to them. … Unfortunately, al-Qaeda may not be the only challenge liberalism faces today, or even the greatest.”
“Who better to lead a cast of assorted hawks back into intellectual — and they hope eventually political — influence than the congenial and well-respected scion of one of America’s first families of interventionism?
His father, Donald Kagan, a historian of ancient Greece, is a patriarch of neoconservatism. His brother, Fred, is a military scholar who helped conceive the American troop increase in Iraq in 2007. His wife and unofficial editor, Victoria Nuland, is an assistant secretary of state and one of the country’s toughest and most experienced diplomats, whose fervor for building democracy in Ukraine recently leaked out in an embarrassing audio clip. And Mr. Kagan, who often works in a book-lined studio of his cedar home here in the Washington suburbs, exudes a Cocoa-Puffs-pouring, stay-at-home-dad charm.”

“The US soldier relies on his superior technology. The Russian on his willpower.”
Unfortunately the superior technology will win every time. Luckily there is not really any big difference in level of technology modern army’s employ. The people who use their ‘stuff’ well will usually prevail. Willpower is a big part of this.
It was Rommel that said long ago:
” Anyone who has to fight, even with the most modern weapons, against an enemy in complete command of the air, fights like a savage against modern European troops, under the same handicaps and with the same chances of success.”
This is how the US operates, and savages have no chance.
And this is why the USA won in Afghanistan????
Touche!
America has had superior technology and superior numbers of such technology since the ’50s. It has lost everywhere.
It only wins in destroying things, killing dictators, overwhelming 3rd world regimes.
It has never fought the Soviets or the Russians, has it?
Pretty clear that the US/NATO military cannot win with its superior technology.
Generally, my recollection may be faulty but no military historian worth spit has written about an American victory against a first tier national army since Japan. In fact, its superior technology can’t win using proxies like the Israelis (Hezbollah won that last encounter). And we all see that America has failed over and over to win anything since WWII. It had opportunity in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia. I won’t dignify the discussion talking Grenada or other minuscule operations. Go large scale, and America has drawn blanks. Killed a lot of people, destroyed many cities, towns and villages. Left chaos and long lasting chemical and radiation ruination, millions of mines planted, etc. But it has won Nothing!

(INTELLIHUB) — A federal contractor for the Department of Defense is raising eyebrows after they posted a job listing for role players that appears to include the forced relocation and detention of American citizens.
EKS Group, LLC recently posted the job description which calls for role players, “to play a vital role in assisting with this security related training.”
In a report on SHTFplan, Mac Slavo outlined the job description and also connected it to the overall preparations for martial law in the lead up to Jade Helm 2015:

Hopefully the American people grasp it this time.
I would add one more bullet point, that is that Americans are poorly educated, both ethically and conventionally speaking. I attended excellent public schools in the Silicon Valley when it was mainly aerospace and orchards. We studied dance, music, several languages, as well as hard sciences. We had wonderful labs and sport opportunities. The education children get now is routine, boring, rote and often humiliating. They are not taught critical thinking, only obedience. Arts and sports were cut to the bone long ago. My moral or ethical education in the Roman Catholic Church was progressive (during Pope John XXIII) and a large part of our community life. I´m very grateful for my education, and feel so sorry that public education cannot pick up where the churches left off. They do not even enforce manners.
Saker,I hope you won’t be offended ,but I must mention your continued use of ‘solider’.I first thought it was just a typo, but now it looks like a mild dyslexic condition, which my nephew and I both suffer from.’Solider’ is however, charming and inoffensive, but just makes me wonder.
XbNB..that’s funny. Saker also spells ‘joking’ as ‘jocking’ and I used to wonder if it was on purpose. But now I think that its really a language thing. I think he grew up speaking Russian and still has that as his main language…maybe they speak Russian at home..don’t know.
On this site people all over world comment, so you will find plenty spelling mistakes.
A truck with humanitarian aid for Debaltsevo kids passes through a narrow strip of a blown-up bridge (video)
http://fortruss.blogspot.com.au/2015/04/a-truck-with-humanitarian-aid-for.html?m=1
The US army is only “brave” when the odds are stacked in their favour, such as conducting drone strikes from thousands of miles away against innocent wedding parties or calling in air strikes from the safety of a bunker, but go toe to toe against an enemy?, even one poorly armed with just an AK47 ?, you can forget it. That’s way too dangerous for the “exceptional” people.
As for the 4000 citizens abandoned by the US government in Yemen, these citizens aren’t white and as such are of no real consequence to the US administration. This is the true face of America and it is one of racism and fascism.
“And yet they ran abandoning 4’000 of their own nationals because evacuating them would have been “too dangerous”.”
I think there is another element left out here, and that is racism. We hear the words “American citizens” but what the US sees are Yemeni Arabs that became US citizens. Not Anglo-Americans living in Yemen on business. Now,legally those people are US citizens. And certainly morally they should have been evacuated. But to many US “Tom,Dick, and Harry’s” those people aren’t considered “real Americans”.And that is why there is no huge outrage in the US over that. The US certainly is used to having millions of immigrants settle in the US.It is the “settler country” par excellence. But those people settled inside the US.Unlike Europe or some other countries with a Worldwide colonial past it isn’t used to having large numbers of people with US citizenship living outside the US.And those that do,are usually Anglo-American expats, not non-American born people with US passports.I think that is also why the drone killing of US citizens never evoked the outrage you would expect it to have. Those were also people of foreign background with US citizenship, not Anglo-Americans.If they had been you would have had a much greater outcry over it.Racism is and always has been a force in US society. This is just another example of it.
On another related point.I read the US and UK thanked Russia for helping their citizens (how they must have hated that). While not a word as far as I’ve heard from Ukraine for the numerous Ukrainian citizens Russia also saved.

Tragic cowardice and cold blooded murder.
Clark is a dimwit. Wanted to take on the Russians during the Yugoslavia fiasco. The British refused the stupid US ‘orders’ and had in the end, I believe, an amicable ‘chat’ with the Russians.
The most important bullet point is missing:
in contrast to the US, Russia is a real, more than thousand year old nation with a single dominant ethnicity, religion and language, where the US is a rag tag composition of people from the all the corners of the globe, with little to zero cohesion. These people can be easily defeated by Vietnamese, heck, even by Somalis (watch Black Hawk Down). The Americans don’t have a clue what to fight for. Most European Americans hate what their country has become. 25% of the Americans want to secede from Washington. I doubt if Washington is even able to mobilize the country for a world war, once push comes to shove. All these tens of millions of Latino gate crashers came to the US to make a buck, not to die for Washington and its oligarchs. Nevertheless the US should be taken serious as a power with very destructive means. But in direct guerrilla engagement it is a paper tiger. “Boots on the ground” is always a recipe for disaster for the Americans.

Hillary Clinton: The International Neocon Warmonger – Hillary Clinton has announced her candidacy for President of the United States. While the European press showers her with praise without thinking, Webster G. Tarpley recalls her balance sheet: in all circumstances, she supported war and corporate interests.
Great post – read more here:http://www.voltairenet.org/article187315.html
I would say the lower guys in the US military would have no problem going in and evacuating the US citizens. Its the people at the top who are afraid of losing even one soldier, for political reasons. From the president down to probably mid ranking generals are much more focus on looks rather then action. President Obama is probably the most indecisive president not only in US history but probably in the world at this time(not history just present time). Saker one thing I think you misunderstand is there are plenty of soldiers and plenty of people in the US that can see the bullshit going on around them but they are all seeing the bullshit from different points of views and see different things as causing it. Basically the would be opposition is much too fragmented to accomplish anything at this time. But don’t think the there isn’t probably a majority of people that want nothing more then the US to focus on its self and stop all on the nonsense around the world.
“Vladimir Putin steals the show in TIME 100 reader’s poll”
“In a diverse field of competitors made up of pop stars, technology gurus, visionaries and politicians – and at a time when US-Russia relations have hit rock bottom – President Putin has emerged victorious in Time magazine’s 2015 reader poll.”

Agree about the US military. A lot of chest beating and noise, very little real substance backing the bravado.
The pile of zio horse manure is going to get higher.
America Goes Large: Obama Wants Huge Budget for His Anti-Russian Troll Army
The US government agency Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) has filed its annual Fiscal Year Budget Request with the US Congress. This year its overall draft budget of $751.5 million requires some extra funding.
Among the notable areas which require intense investing is “Countering a Revanchist Russia”, for which it will allocate $15.4 million to battles in the blogosphere. Interestingly enough, it is more than twice as much as the agency is prepared to shell out on “Countering The ISIL Narrative” ($6.1 million).
The reason for the big spending is the fear among the “US and its Western Allies” of an “aggressive Russia” which has had some success lambasting them in the social media, not to mention via TV and radio.

“Webster G. Tarpley recalls her balance sheet: in all circumstances, she supported war and corporate interests.”
Total nobodies like Obama or Clinton or any US president for that matter, have nothing to say at all in US politics. They are just mouth pieces / poster boys/girls for the oligarchy. The real centers of power are in Zionist run operations like the CFR, FED, think-tanks, AIPAC, NGOs and media. The real primus interpares president of the US is not Obama, but CFR chairman Richard Haass.

The power structure in the US is exactly the same like in the USSR between 1917 and 1938.
“While the European press showers her with praise without thinking”
The European press is not stupid, but part of the imperial conglomerate. If you have the wrong opinions, you simply won’t be let in. Even former presidents, like Giscard, if they have the wrong opinions, they won’t be published, not even in a socalled ‘right-wing’ newspaper like le Figaro:

If nothing happens, the West will be the next USSR.
Our only (European) hope is that:
– Putin manages to sit it out
– China can take the lead in the de-dollarization of Eurasia
– ISIS/Turkey throw out the West from the Middle-East
– Further rise of the Right in Europe, notably in France
– Uprising and successful secession movements in the US
In ten years time, the US is a third world country anyway, most cities will be like Detroit and the US won’t need to be taken serious anymore.

Russia…is…a…joke (or rather the other half of the NWO, which isn’t actually funny at all)
http://rt.com/news/249621-yemen-resolution-unsc-houthis/
“The UN Security Council has imposes an arms embargo against the Houthi rebels in Yemen and the allied forces loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Fourteen members of the Security Council voted in favor of the resolution, Russia being the only abstention.
The Russian representative explained the move by saying that not all of Moscow’s proposals had been included in the final text drafted by Jordan and Gulf Arab states.”
saker, can you please close this blog since the problem isn’t so much “The empire’s war on Russia” as “those b**tard rich guys want us all dead”?
Russia is acting responsible. Besides, advocating sending arms to Yemen would make it difficult to advocate not sending arms to Ukraine. And since when is Yemen an ally of Russia? These Houthi’s are not exclusively Shia, there are both Shia and Sunni and the conflict in Yemen is not sectarian Shia/Sunni:
http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-war-on-yemen-where-oil-and-geopolitics-mix/5442423
“The Saudis are falsely depicting the Houthis as Iranian proxies or allies, because the movement is composed of Zaidi (Fiver) Shiites. The Houthis, however, are independent from Tehran and have agency as political actors; they are not Iranian proxies whatsoever. A common faith has not brought the Houthis and the Iranians, who are predominately Jaffari (Twelver) Shiites, together. Politics is what has brought the two together. The sectarian language that falsely depicts Yemen as a battleground between Shia Muslims and Sunni Muslims is ill informed or intended to mislead people by design about the actual politics and history of Yemen. ”
The Houthi’s are a ‘death to America’ movement, anti-imperialist. The ousted president was a US stooge. Saudi-Arabia as a US proxy wants to prevent the escape of Yemen from the US satellite system. Yemen can control oil flow from the Gulf to Europe via the Suez canal, that’s the real geopolitical importance of otherwise dirt poor Yemen.
and Russia has yet again back stabbed her ally in Yemen to please Saudis and anglos -what a loser Russia is!
not a single resolution to the benefit of Russia can Russians bring on UN but they re the first to endorse or not veto any resolution which harms Russian allies.
the world watches this and that is why Russia will be left alone and then attacked without any ally-on all front by the same anglosaxon cabal and saudi evil nation which Russia has always helped as opposed to her own ally.
They won’t be attacked – there is no war on the horizon…they (AZ&Russian&Chinese Elite) want you to think there is – but it’s actually a game to get you into the Animal Farm.
This problem is not a new one. Look at: “Comments on the Moro Massacre” by Mark Twain.
I have another take on this, what if US planned to run all along?
What if this “evacuation” is a pretext for some other tactial op we don’t fullt understand? What if this Orvars the Saudi to go in full force and when they win US will tap their sholder?
Or they run because they want Yemen to explode into Irans face just like isis , and soon Israel live in total Chiado region and only Israeli war power can bring peace and West world will applaude it?
Can your take here Saker be to short sighted?
To occupide to run “propaganda” of russian soldier greatness?
We all know that russian soldiers will fight, no need to sell that more :)
The enlisted US Military are just as corrupt as the officers, if not more so. Just in a different way.
A pile of 18-24 year olds that are the best of the best at raping eachother, gay porn scandals, suicide, urinating on corpses, stealing their own equipment, poisoning their own water supplies, raping and dumping toxic waste on locals, and other infernal actions. They constantly mope around in boy scout uniforms, sleep deprived and on a concotion of drugs, wave colorful flags, parade, spend time in American class room setting, and participate in team sports exercises. They are guided by a pathetic co dependent cheerleader weak willed spirit. You’ll find no warriors among them, just future suicides, destitute, life sentences, death rows, police, fraudulent do nothing patriots. Demented, deranged mutants.
The US military is already dead,. It will take a while for them to be completely destroyed, but it will happen. Suicides will continue and grow to unbelievable numbers, mass theft of equipment by criminal, including gangs, activity will have even more gear showing up on ebay. More firearm rampages on base will probably occur. Wars will continue to be ever more humiliating failures, which will be declared as victories. Eventually, the US military will only exist in movies and TV shows.
But the Russians and Chinese weren’t responsible for US’ OPPRESSION. CARNAGE and ensuing Saudomy! … Can I get a YeMen?!
Saker, I wouldn’t underestimate American’s. America’s military is demoralized because they do not believe in the mission and more die by suicide than the hands of the enemy. They were lied into WAR. ( Iraq) Now everything is questionable. When American’s are determined about something-or facing a catastrophe-they pull together like nobody else-self organize like body else either. It is long been apart of their history as farmers-and as people on the frontier-independent to a fault but when disaster strikes able to put everything aside including own needs to help thy neighbor. And they have always come together at the local level from colonial times in whatever church they were a part of until today-When American’s are faced with an issue in their own back yards they usually pull together form a community group and start agitating-this applies to everything from fracking to legalizing pot to banning GMO’s American’s organize. Unfortunately they don’t seem to be able to organize must beyond the local level. Everybody has to have their own environmental group or anti fracking group because here in Indiana or here in Maryland-that is the way we do things…this collective organization and local and particular independence seems to prevent transcendence beyond local levels-and never along class lines-in a democracy there are no classes just one big middle fuddle duddle. obsfucation. But when a national disaster strikes such as New Orleans’s or the BP Gulf disaster, Hurricane Sandy or 9/11 you see American’s from all across the country volunteering in person or donating goods or dollars like nobody else. I hope the military of Russia or their leaders don’t suffer the same sort of bias that I see going on here. To underestimate one’s enemy is usually a mortal error.
Special forces fled because they are not supposed to be there-no declaration of war…Told to skedaddle by higher ups. Obama would argue war on terror Congress would argue IMPEACH.
RR
The “REAL” US military incompetence Is :OBAMA”!!!!!
Is this the same country where our guys were forced to haul ass so fast keys left in vehicles? BUT MORE IMPORTANT is this where soldiers had to disable their weapons and surrender them? I hope same place and not ANOTHER country to demonstrate the Oba Policies.
I love God and I love my country.
I would die for both.
I do not love Putin and I do not love Obama.
If you are thinking that America will be a cake walk thing again.
It’s easy to dismiss the American military and laud praises on their Russian counterparts, and I’ll be the first to admit the sad state of the current American military. However it needs to be said that the Russians suffered many defeats at the hands of “lesser” enemies like the Afghans, the Finns, and the Chechens (twice!). A nations military is a reflection of it’s leadership, and ours is political, too focused on technology to replace grit and training, and cowardly at it’s root. Russia doesn’t have that problem; it’s leadership is focused, determined, and decisive, and it’s military reflects that. As a nation we have rested on our laurels and wasted our wealth (natural, intellectual, and spiritual) on frivolity. There are three primary reasons for Russia’s military success: lack of effective opposition (e.gbcurrent Ukraine invasion), the will and ability to spend many lives to achieve victory (WW2), and winter (WW2 and the Napoleonic War). Like the pacific campaign in WW2, we may get our junk handed to us for a while, but if we can survive the difficult transition process and learn our lessons we will be able to handle conflict with Russia. That’s a really, really big if though.
Whoa! nice analysis totally ruined by
“…,There are three primary reasons for Russia’s military success: lack of effective opposition (e.gbcurrent Ukraine invasion),…”
What invasion? what military success?
a) Crimea was not invaded: forces legally stationed there went for a walk. No shots were fired. It was more a shows the flag” exercise than military.
b) no other part of Ukraine has been invaded, actually by Russia or by anyone else (despite the over 1000 NATO and US “advisers” and “trainers” being there). Weekly Ukrainian and USA allegations of Russian troop presence have never been accompanied by actual evidence, like a single photo of a Russian tank crossing the border or some such,.
Apart from that…. well, do you really think USA would do well in a nuclear war? because if you try going to Russia with bombs or missiles, you’ll get shot down. Boots don’t even dream about, they’d see you coming from a thousand miles away. Russia is not going to try boots on ground in USA, either. So……
Excellent article. As a US resident, I totally agree. I’d like to add that the Jade Helm occupation is happening…and Texas is being harped. We feel it in the region. A small minority here knows what the truth is and is ready…the bulk of US residents are completely unconscious to the coming changes–when the dollar doesn’t work. To the people of the world, know that many here in the US have tried to stop this regime. Bush, Clinton, Obama, Soros and the rest of the cabal have murdered many who spoke out. We are relying on China and Russia to destroy our military and politicians by bankrupting the country and forcing the collapse. The only way to stop them is to take away all their money and all their power. As for Obummer, as we call him, he got his billions, which he hopes to live well on somewhere the people can’t find him. Good luck. Many of us finally know about the Nazis who got sanctuary in South America. Think life will go easy for them? Too many people are learning the truth.
Haarp creates a vibration that is very irritating. It raises blood pressure, creates insomnia and other health problems. They are using it on us now. But, they will not win. We do have our Constitutional heroes, like John Adams, Samuel Adams, and others to inspire us. Our first revolution will not be the last.
