It’s wryly amusing that a popular TV program broadcast so many years ago (notice the reference to “Soviet” diplomats) could lay out so openly the British government’s approach to such issues.
Almost as amusing as the fact that 99% of the British people have forgotten all about it – if indeed they ever watched such a “highbrow” program.
But then, as Harold Wilson so correctly stated, “a week is a long time in politics”.

As horrible as the empire is, their humor is priceless. Well, in yesteryears at least. Today not much of interest gets produced.
